The god stared at us. He had salt and pepper hair, with a black kimono-like robe lined with silver and gold. His sandals were wrapped around his shins over and over, like two overprotective snakes for shoes. Then I realized they were snakes. One of the snakes had gold eyes, the other silver. The silver-eyed one looked like it was ready to pounce, while the gold-eyed one looked sleepy, almost sluggish.
This is one of the last gods awake! Be polite! I thought. The Spenser had to ruin it.
"Oh my gods, we are so sorry!" He blurted. "We were gonna teleport to—mmph!"
I covered Spenser's mouth. "We're very sorry, we should leave now." I said, in my most polite tone.
Thanatos smiled. "Arcanias-in-training? Well, you're in front of a large crowd of real ones." His voice was sweet but gravelly, with a deep tone, like Spenser's voice.
I coughed. "What?"
"Alex Astraea Dragonis, come with me." Thanatos said. "I just finished my speech. Spenser James Millan, please come too."
We followed him underneath the stage. Thanatos knocked on a door, his knocks responded by a muffled voice like a high-pitched dolphin: "Come in."
Thanatos opened the door, and we fell in. Literally. The room was one giant water bubble. Small fish swam around a woman with tentacle-like hair, pale skin and bright blue eyes. She was wearing a sea green chiton, which swam around like a fish. Her feet were barefoot, and she spoke with priority.
"Thanatos, why did you bring a Fey and an Elemental? Usually I like Elementals, but this is an Earth Elemental." The woman whined.
Thanatos winced. "Sorry, Kymopoleia. But I thought they could help me look for my brother, and help with you-know-who waking."
Kymopoleia huffed. "Just say Tartarus, would you? Also Hypnos is probably dead. His Arcania is."
I nearly began to cry. "Don't you mean my brother, Tantalus Hypnos Dragonis? He was an Arcania."
Kymopoleia looked at me. "Thanatos, you never told me you found an Astraea Arcania and an Orcus Arcania."
Spenser cut in. "Who and who?"
I stared at him. "You idiot, I was born on the day Astraea went to sleep. You were born on the day Orcus went to sleep."
"Who's Orcus?"
Thanatos cringed. "My co-worker before we started to create Mytholigica. Orcus was the god of eternal damnation."
"That's a great job," I said sarcastically. "'Who would love to listen to the damned?' asks Hades. 'Me!' Orcus responds."
"Young girl, this is no laughing matter. You are a legacy of Hades!" Kymopoleia cried. "Do you know how much power that holds?"
I didn't. But Spenser did.
