Tullec awoke shivering in a sweat. "Easy Lad" A woman's voice said as he felt a hand land on his shoulder. "You are all right " her voice reassured him. Captain Alara sat beside him, she was dressed in black mage robes with a white sash depicting her rank as a field commander. "What happened to you? We found you passed out in the forest."
"I did the test." He said meekly "What test?" She demanded. "The conjurer test." Alara grimaced "who put you up to such a foolish thing?" "Corporal Seyerel" Alara cursed "I will handle that bastard. No one has doe that test since the first era" "There is more. I weaved a conjuration." Her eyes went wide "How? Tell me how?"
Tullec rolled up his sleeves and showed the markings on his arms. Captain Alara grabbed his arm almost pulling it out it's socket "where did you get these?" "I do not know" he answered. "This not good. Who else knows about your markings?" Tullec shook his head "No one captain"
"Tell me everything that happened. " Tullec agreed and told Captain Alara everything that transpired that night. She sat back down and tossed her head back and exhaled sharply. "By the gods" she swore.
"You opened a void. Met a god. Then he swallowed you whole." Alara put her face into her hands. "Can you summon something?"She added, Tullec shrugged "I could try captain." Tullec struggled to his feet. He brought his hands together then moved them in front of him.
A black singularity the size of an apple appeared. Lightning emitted and danced around it. A loud screech rang out from it. The singularity expanded then a ring of lightning encircled it. “Impressive.” Alara said “I have never seen magic like this, I am sure no one has.” she added. His hands began to tingle and then burn, he felt his bones pop one by one. Tullec let out a loud cry and dropped to the floor. He looked at his hands they were purple but he could not feel them. Numb. Alara rushed to his side “What happened? Are you alright?” she asked softly. Tullec shook his head “My hands” he began to cry.
“Alright lad, I will go get a healer.” She said before she raced out the room. Tullec heard a loud growl followed by a cackle. Foolish mortal. “You again?...No.” he pleaded. A large shadow appeared before him, reach out your hands boy it demanded. Tullec brought his hands to the shadow and he felt a warming sensation in his hands. His hands turned from purple back to it’s normal dark brown then a void black. We will be one. A life for a life. Tullec began gasping for air, embrace the darkness. Breathe now. Tullec took a large inhale of air and began coughing violently.
He examined his hands, he closed them and opened them. No pain they felt normal. Use them Ysdis urged. He extended his and began to weave once again. Violet lightning escaped his hands forming a singularity of pure white light. It expanded and violet lightning began to flow around it. Alara rushed back in to the room flanked by two healers in golden robes. “Tullec, by the gods how did you? Your hands?”
“Ysdis” he simply stated as the singularity began to crack and emit black light followed a screech. Out from the white light sprang a large beast with black leathery skin with glowing orange eyes and razor sharp teeth and claws that stood tall enough it’s head almost reached the ceiling. The creature leaned forward close to Tullec’s face and smelled him and let out a loud screech. It is a shadow stalker, an efficient hunter Ysdis voice told him. It will do your bidding, find a target and it will hunt them down.
The shadow stalker stood quietly, studying the people quietly. Command it Ysdis urged. “Tullec what is that thing?” asked Alara as the color drained from her face. Tullec reached out his hand and the shadow stalker shifted slowly towards him. The shadow walker lowered it’s head and Tullec placed his hand on it’s head. The skin was rough and bumpy similar to an alligator. The shadow stalker snarled like a dog.
The creature lowered it self to it’s masters height, “Good” Tullec petted it nervously. “Sit” he ordered and the creature obeyed lowering it self and sitting on to the floor. “Captain” he beckoned softly and she came to his side slowly. “Give me your hand” Tullec slowly placed his hand in her’s and slowly reached out to touch the shadow stalker. “Captain Alara” he introduced her to the creature like he was a pet. “Captain…. obey” the creature spoke.
“Yes… obey” Tullec said softly, in his mind he could hear Ysdis cackle.
