Someone just kill that useless kid. I’m done. Maybe I can still do something...

I got tired of being here.
Milo told me that we were dying. He sounded literal about that.
I told everyone that I know they aren’t real. They said things like, “What do you mean, Edith?” and “What are you talking about?” but they know what I’m talking about. I locked myself in the attic of “my” house, and found Milo there. I guess I expected him to be there. I know him. Gray light was shining through the tiny window, rain scattered on it like someone asked it to be there.
“Edith, are you ok? Do you need help?” I heard from below from my parents.
I just looked at Milo.
“What should I do? How do I wake up?” I asked him.
“...Go to sleep. That’s the only thing I can think of…” He said quietly and shakily.
“Are you ok?” I asked.
“No! But you might be able to save both is us if you go to sleep.”
“So, to wake up I need to go to sleep? I don’t even think I can fall asleep right now.”
Milo looked at me with an expression that I had never seen him have before. “Please.”
So, all I could do was lay down on the wooden surface of the attic floor and close my eyes. I could still hear my “parents” below the attic. I tried to ignore it. I thought about the dreams that I had before.
The field.
The mall.
The… attic.
The sky over the field was stormy. I think it was a wheat field. One side of the sky was blue, while the other side, above me and overcoming the field, was dark. And stormy. And filled with memory.
I fell asleep.
When I woke up, I opened a car door with a shattered window, looking into a field with a storm above. I ran into the field, to where there was a path between the wheat. I was scared and confused.
And people picked me up.
And I’m afraid they killed my parents.
And luckily I was saved from them.
Who was I saved by? I don’t remember. I should, but I can’t.
The windows outside the mall were dark. It was night outside, and the mall was loud with people talking. My parents were next to me, and we were shopping. As a family.
That was before. Now the mall is quiet and empty. Abandoned. But not completely. I live there now, with the people that saved me. But who saved me?!
The attic is bright with sunlight. I’m looking for something? But what? Anything. Anything helpful. I’m searching the attic. No, raiding the attic. It’s abandoned. But I’m here, raiding an attic with my best friends.
“You findin’ anything? I didn’t find much.”
Who is that? I know her more than anyone else. But who is she? I need to know. I need to wake up. I need them to know that I’m alive.
There’s one more memory that I’m trying to hold on to. I’m in a car. No, more like a van. Driving through a city. Talking with my friends. Real friends. We are more happy than we’ve ever been before. We were all together.
Then there was screaming, and fear, and…
Death.
And I was taken from everyone I love once again.
"Leo!" I heard screaming in my mind.
Our leader has died.
Our safety is gone.
Our unity is shattered.
Can I put it back together if I wake up?
