Chapter 1

Another annoying counsel meeting, Victoria mentally groaned.

The goblin at the other end of the table was carefully reading off a sheet of parchment some random numbers and issues concerning her kingdom. Even though she had no interest in any of it.

“Mi’lady another successful hunt occurred the other night.” The goblin rasped.

Victoria was not surprised, the entire kingdom was full of demons born to hunt down humans to prey on. If there was not at least a small bit of success in bringing in food they would not stop until there was.

Honestly, she thought, why even bother telling me this? I knew the moment I heard their chaotic screams of hunger and joy that they were successful.

“Mi’lady…. I suppose your idea of who to hunt was a good idea after all. Less demons are getting killed nowadays because of your rules. We have more humans actually grateful to us, and even helping us procure food. Can you believe it?! Humans! Actually liking us! Ha!” The goblin threw his bulbous head back and laughed shrilly, causing Victoria to wince.

Victoria put her head on the cool marble table as the goblin left.

The demon race could only survive off of despair, human insanity, and occasionally flesh.

Victoria tapped her long fingernails on the table.

It was her idea that they hunt the humans as they do now.
