A Demon Named Mike

Teleportation attempt n°1

Teleportation attempt n°1

Sep 07, 2018

After the Paris Disaster, our friends decided it was time to get back to their main quest. Melancholy would have to wait as the risk of going to Heaven was too great.

They found a quiet spot somewhere in the middle of a small forgotten park and waited for the local straddlers to go home, while Kim fed on a very pretty cherry tree.

Once the place was deserted, meaning that only a few drunkards and punks were left on the benches and too far gone to care, Mike took out the world map and tried to locate their destination.

Traveling over long distances required concentration and a lot of energy. The young Demon was grateful for the bananas he had found unattended on a market stall earlier: the potassium source recharged his batteries, so to speak.

Once they were both fed, Kim took her usual spot between his horns and he started to chant the teleportation spell. You may remember that this spell was one he failed half the time. He hadn’t failed the previous one, so…

“Damned Heaven, it’s cold in here! Are you sure we’re in the Virgin Islands? The weather was supposed to be warm there,” Kim complained.

In order for the spell to work, one has to visualize either the person or the location that they’re aiming for.

Unfortunately, while he was casting it, Mike felt a chill and thought for a split second about being cold. That split second was an important one in order to activate the teleportation itself.

Spells aren’t clever, and this one is no exception. It heard “cold” and led Mike and Kim to the coldest place on Earth: Antarctica.

Specifically, in the exact middle of it, the zone that is claimed by several countries, where you only need to take one step in any direction to change territory. And that, when our friends arrived, was covered in penguins crossing the continent.

Thank you, middle-school geography.

Penguins are curious creatures, and these were very intrigued by the newcomers. They clearly weren’t native animals, and didn’t resemble the usual humans that came by every once in a while to do weird stuff with weird things that made weird noises while sometimes feeding them fish.

These ones didn’t seem to have any fish with them. Disappointing...

“Kim, look! Cats with beaks!” said Mike, mesmerized and a little slowed by the cold. “Do you think they can talk? I’d ask them for a coat, my feet are starting to freeze already. Or shoes, for my hands, maybe.”

Hell isn’t known for its chilly temperature, after all.

That was the moment Kim realized that Demons aren’t made for cold climates. He was clearly losing what little sanity he had here.

She got closer to him in hopes of heating him up, but the penguins were faster. They charged right at the poor frozen Demon, overthrowing him.

Mike slipped, landed on his head, his horns got stuck in the ice that covered the ground, and he ended up in a perfect vertical position, upside down, smiling. “That was fun, can you guys do it again?!” he happily shouted.

Someone has messed up the proportions when Mike was created. He really wants to be as good a demon as possible, but... his smile and flowery personality keeps betraying him.
Along with his friend Kim, he sets out on a quest for virgin's blood without a clue what that is.
Oh dear, this is going to be a complicated one...
