Nyrim Kheideshrat POV
Saa extended her hand towards me, "Let's get out of here." I allowed a slight smile to escape my lips. "Yeah, let's get out of here Saa."
Saa wasted no time and started to drag me by my wrist through the corridor, my other hand tightly gripped the gem.
Essence sealing gems release an explosion when broken, the power is dependent on how much essence was sealed by the user. The gems are also pretty damn expensive and with only one use, they are always at high demand. As much as I wanted my essence back, I could not risk us getting caught by guards.
We reached the stairwell and Saa turned around to face me. "Since you can't use your essence I'll have to cast the charm on you myself," she rolled her eyes for comedic effect.
Saa pressed her right palm flat against my chest. She looked at me dead in the eyes. The stairs gave her a boost in height which allowed our eyes to meet. She closed her eyes and inhaled. Paused, then she breathed out the charm like her breath. Opening her eyes to stare into mine she finalized the charm.
"Not bad, I guess that you're not just the Revered Head Magician, in name only?" I commented sarcastically with a smirk.
"Get over yourself, you old coot," Saa said as she returned my sneer with a smile.
The smiles did not last long, but I wished that they would deep down. I would never admit that to Saa though.
I even regret that I have not been very nice to her in recent years. Perhaps after this is over I could restore my relationship with her. I nodded to myself thinking of all of the ways I could apologize.
Then the realization struck me like a punch to the chest. What if I will never have the time to talk to her again. A bounty will surely be placed on my head and she's a very high standing official, so we may never have the chance...
"Saa.." I began.
"Yes, what do you need?"
"Where are we going.."
"Well first we need to get you out of Samsara, so we are heading straight to The Gate."
"THE GATE?!"
She turned around blank faced, "didn't I say we have to get you out of here?"
"Well I was thinking more like the country side.. NOT ANOTHER GODDAMN WORLD!" I could feel my face get hot with rage as I yelled.
"First of all, lower your voice we are almost in the main hall. Second of all if you go to the country side I doubt you'd be able to lay low. Especially with your personality, and.." She mimed horns on her forehead. I got the message.
"B-but I'm leaving everything behind.."
"You have your research and most of your notes right? I know you have dimensional storage, why else would you wear earrings," she pointed at my ears.
I raise my hands in the air, "You got me." I try to form a smile to lessen my anger, but it does not turn out how I want.
"Nyrim, we have to get out of here before someone catches on and prosecutes me for your mistakes," she sighs. "And mine," she adds under her breath. I can hear her but I pretend not to.
"I don't want to leave, but this time, I guess I kinda owe you.." I started knowing I would not leave Samsara that easily.
Saa smiled, she probably knew I was lying but I could tell she appreciated it anyway. "Let's go before the charm wears off," Saa said.
We exit the staircase and turn right into a small corridor. Saa lead me down the hallway until we reached the third room on the right. She quietly opened the door, and then closed it behind us silently. She did not bother turning on any gas lamps or lighting a couple of candles, so the room was lit only by a row of windows on the far side.
Saa made her way over to the windows. Silently she opened one of them and made a signal for me to follow.
"Found an exit," she smiled mockingly.
