It's from a paper made in the 60's called 'Death Squared: The explosive growth and demise of a mouse population.' If you were going to read this comic again, and don't know what the Mouse Utopia experiment was, go watch a video on it on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgGLFozNM2o and then reread. Might give a different perspective on what the whole story means.

And now that you know that flare users can regenerate, I'll mention something that I hinted at a few pages back.
Schorl mentioned he wanted to disguise himself as an opossum and live in South America. Later on, an opossum is seen with blue eyes, and wearing the same coloured clothes that Schorl wore when he was Nehr.
Amethyst has shown by her own modifications that rat technology is capable of changing facial structure, hair and eye appearance...
