Random theory! In the present, Octavio is always in a giant octopus form even though he clearly had a humanoid form in the sunken scrolls. Octavio's octo form is far larger than the octo form of an average octoling but may be appropriate for a kraken. Did Octavio go kraken while fighting in the war and then sustain an injury that gave him that X shaped scar, and that somehow is why he is permanently a kraken? Was Octavio krakening against Craig, and did Craig give him that scar?
