Daniels' Perspective:
I woke up but Rhys wasn't beside me.
"Rhys?" I called out, no answer.
"Rhys?" I called again but a little louder. I decided to get up and popped a robe over my shoulder. I heard some noise from downstairs and instantly my heart dropped. I quietly creped under my bed and grabbed a knife. I quietly walked down the stairs, I walked into the kitchen and saw a figure, I tall slender figure. I sped towards this figure with the knife but tripped because I had just woken up. I landed face first into the ground and the knife fell out of my hand. I felt a hand grab e from my neck, this is I thought. This is the end of me.
"Daniel?!"
"Rhys?"
"Gosh you frightened me to death, what were you thinking?" I spluttered some random crap as I was so scared. He got up and turned on the lights, as soon as I saw his face I started to cry, I was extremely startled. "H-hey what's wrong?"
"I-I was just r-really scared." I wrapped my arm around his waist and cried into his chest. He patted my head and constantly repeated the phrase 'I'm sorry' I don't know what he was sorry for but I didn't care. I finally calmed down and asked him, "What are you doing?"
"I-I wanted to make you some breakfast. I didn't plan on waking you up."
"Oh." Was all I could say, I didn't know what to say to him because he wanted to give me a surprise and I ruined it all.
Rhys' Perspective:
I'm so sorry Daniel, I read the letters without you and I'm just sorry. When Daniel walked in I hid the letters in a cupboard , I didn't want him to know what his Mother had wrote in the last letter.
Dear Rhys,
This is possibly my last letter that I will ever write to you, when Daniel was younger the doctors always were worried for him. They were afraid that he would get my disease. One day they diagnosed him, but it wasn't so serious. They told me that he would have about 25 years to live, even if he did get 'cured'. They diagnosed it as CHD but it wasn't CHD, it was something more serious. We were just told that he had CHD, but one day as we were giving Daniel a check-up I over heard them say something horrifying.
"Doctor Livius, you know that Daniel has something worse than CHD. The CT scans come up with un-diagnosed cancer cells, and the tumour is getting a bit bigger, we have to tell them the truth."
That was what I had heard, I was so worried for my little baby boy, but as he got older and started hanging out with you, the tumour started to shrink. I don't know what you did but it benefited Daniel, but the day you left Daniel got worse an worse. We were afraid that he wouldn't live till 25, so please come back soon. I love you so much and thank you for everything you have done for Daniel, I believe that the relationship you two have is much more that friends. My parting gift will be Daniel, so take good care of him please, I love you.
How on earth would I be able to let Daniel see such a letter? Daniel was looking at me he was just so adorable. I hugged him and whispered in his ear, "I'm sorry." This sorry wasn't because of scaring him it was because of something deeper.
"I know," He whispered back, I felt him wrap his arms around my back tighter, clinging to my shirt. If only you knew what I was sorry for Daniel.
"Let's go back to bed okay, I'm sure your still tired. And I want to take you somewhere later."
"Okay." We walked back to them room in silence his hand was still clutched to my shirt. He was like a puppy in need of attention, he was just so cute. We both climbed into bed, but Daniel kept a safe distance from me. We lied in silence for about 30 minutes, I could tell that he was still awake. I couldn't take it any longer, I turned to my side and back hugged Daniel. I knew it, I couldn't sleep without him. I felt him relax and then he turned around and wrapped his arms around my neck.
"I love you-your hugs." He whispered into my ear.
"I-I love you- your hugs too." I whispered back. I nearly just confessed to him, that was a close call. I gave a quiet sigh and fell into a deep sleep.
