Aiyana sat across from Charlie at a round table for two in a fancy restaurant. They had just ordered and were talking amongst themselves. “So, what's the deal with you?”
“What Im handsome, charming, rich, and I certainly don’t let good things pass me by and yes I’m talking about you.” Charlie smirked rolling his straw around his glass.
She smiled and looked down at her hands which were fidgeting under the table.
“Okay I know what your thinking… I admit I’m failing at this but look at you, your way out of my league.”
“Ha, you think so?”
“Aiyana I run a tech company because my Dad stole it everything I’ve had in my life has been given to me or done for me cooked for me, custom tailored, and I’ve been protected my whole life like I’m fragile. You your
smart resourceful .. I mean F.B.I? Brave, and gorgeous.
Me I’m just an entitled little boy.” Charlie admitted gulping seeing as he may have rambled his shot away
with the first girl he was attracted to In a long time
“Charlie, I don't know you that well, but I think you should sell yourself the way you sell your software. Like it's worth something. Because you are worth something.”
“Duly Noted now shall we fast forward through the awkward and order. You can have anything you want, spare no expense.” Charlie smiled he didn’t blow it, if only he could keep it up.
She slowly picked at a chicken Caesar salad.
“Chicken, I said spare no expense. Are you sure this is what you want you can have chicken anything. Tell ya what I’ll one up I’ll get lobster.” Charlie played.
She giggled and smiled. “i'm not an expensive date.”
“Well that’s a refreshing change, most people, even my friends want something out of me and this is …” He leaned in.
“Nice.” Aiyana finished there faces close, they were going to kiss before the sound of a door slamming grabbed their attention.
“AAIYANA! I go a….oooh Y’all were about to take a lash at lip lockin’, nope don’t let me interrupt.” Ella interrupted
“What in the blaze of hell do you want?”
“Well I was going to kindly let ya know that I found a pattern.” Ella smirked.
She jumped up. “Charlie, it's been real fun… Rain check?” She desperately hoped he would say yes.
“Ah, okay. But remember, we now have some unfinished business. Not to mention, there’s one condition.” He smirked.
“Oh, and what might that be?”
“Let me help you. Whatever it is it’s important or else you wouldn’t dress like Mulder and Scully, and Merida over there wouldn’t have interrupted our date, so let me help?”Charlie furrowed his brows
“Oi I resent that.” Ella teased playfully.
“Come on, you girls can't handle everything on your own.”
“That's a bit sexist. You'd be surprised the things we can handle.” Ella sassed.
“Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. I just meant that it's okay to accept help every now and then.”
“I don't think it's the best idea Charlie.” Aiyana said sweetly, trying not to say too much.
“No, it doesn't even matter. We don't have time for this. Let's go.” Ella said in a hurry.
They were at the bottom of the statue of liberty. “Uncle Pete, NO!”
“Look, you're gonna think we're crazy. But you need to listen to me.” Aiyana said, fear in her voice. “That isn't your uncle. He's being lured into this by a ghost.”
“And that’s how to lose a Guy in 5 days.” Ella quipped.
“You're fucking crazy!” Charlie sighed, not to be mean, not in disinterest of Aiyana just of fear for his uncles life.
“Whoop there it is.” Ella sang under her breath, possibly the result of watching pitch perfect one to many times. Aiyana instantly regretted introducing her to it.
“Ella, God damnit!” She looked to Charlie. “Charlie, please. For your uncle's sake, you have to trust me.”
“Let’s just focus on, oh I don’t know, SAVING MY UNCLE!” I
They run to the top of the statue as quickly as possible.
“Uncle Pete, don't do this. I can't lose you too.” Just then, an older man appeared out of nowhere. He was staring at Charlie.
The ghost opened his mouth to speak but only blood came out. It was just a choking out blood.
“Papa Joe… But you’re, you're…”
“Yeah, he's dead… We tried to tell ya.” Ella sassed.
“Your grandfather Charlie, where was he buried.”
“He uh wasn’t, he was cremated.” Charlie stated.
“Shit!” Aiyana sighed
“Awww I’m rubbin’ off on you.” Ella smiled
“Not the time Ella!” Aiyana scolded.
“Do you have anything your grandpa may have worn a lot, something with blood or hair or sweat?” Aiyana added.
“I have this bracelet from his war days with his Troop number on it.” Charlie took it off and gave it to Aiyana who took out a lighter and burned it.
Charlie stood in awe as he watched his grandfather fade away and Prepped to catch his uncle.
“Where am I?” Pete asked.
Charlie had tears in his eyes, wanting release. He looked to Aiyana, and she shook her head no. “We uh, we were visiting the statue. And uh, your darn blood sugar must've gone low again. You uh, you passed out.”
“Why are you crying Charlie boy?”
“You just scared me uncle Pete.” He hugged him tight, and wiped away his tears. “Be careful uncle Pete.”
A day later.
“Hey I got a text from Charlie, he wants us to meet him so I can say bye.” Aiyana told Ella.
“You mean say bye with your lips.” Ella chuckled
When the girls arrived at Charlie’s building he had a large mahogany trunk.
“I have something for you. It’s all in the box my boys work quick and I figured I owe you for yesterday.” Charlie smiled.
Aiyana opened the box and inside was an Emf detector, a few black boxes that Aiyana furrowed her brow at.
“Those I figured ghosts are energy right these should hypothetically contain the energy. A real life photon pack for my real life ghostbuster.” Charlie smiled.
Ella found a few guns.
“Ella those have salt rounds as well as a liquid compound mixture of sage, basil, borax, and Salt. So a button on the side can control which one you shoot. The guns with a red marking contain deadmans blood.” Charlie informed her.
“Oh and be careful with the iron bat. All I need is a lawsuit.” Charlie chuckled.
“That’s why you asked me all those questions last night on the phone about what it takes to be a hunter.” Aiyana chuckled.
“Yup.” Charlie popped the P.
“Your amazing.” Aiyana stepped forward closing the gap between their lips.
“Look, Aiyana, I know you have to leave, but please be safe and call me I believe you still owe me and I have this thing called jets, so if you ever want dinner or to chat I’m here.” Charlie offered
