Having coffee with Maggie, I start to talk to her about Ceceile. “I found out the girls name, it is Ceceile.”
“You saw her again! Good, did she tell you her name? What did you do?”
“She showed me where her house is, and she wrote this note to me.” Showing Maggie the note, I say, “would you like to see her house?” She tried to help me find her house the first time, I think that she deserves to see what she was looking for. “You just have to promise not to tell anyone.”
“Of course I would like to see! When can we go!” Maggie is ecstatic that I made the suggestion, I could tell that she was waiting for me to ask as soon as I told her. “I promise I won't tell anyone”
“Okay, let's go now, it's not that far away.” Getting up from my seat, I reach my hand out to her, after she took it we began walking to the edge of the town.
“Oh, my, this place is, wow” Maggie couldn't make words to describe this place either. I can't believe that this place was so close.” Maggie started walking around, realizing that I did not take much time to explore the outside, I start to follow her.
“This is where she grew up, amazing right, I could not imagine living here” I am still bound to the beauty of this place. “You still remember your promise?”
“To not tell anyone, of course I will not,” she said, looking back at me, surprised I would say that again. “I won't go inside either, since she is not around. Look this probably used to be a farm, the fence is rotting away but it lasted a long time.” After inspecting the fence and ground inside, she moves on to something else.
“Look at this place.” Pointing to the lone tree where I last saw Ceceile, she starts running over to it.
“What about this place?” Confused, I walk to her side. “I think it would make a great picnic spot. Do you know something interesting about this tree?”
Maggie was leaning down, running her hands along the grass. “Someone is probably buried under here. A long time ago, it used to be tradition to mark a grave site with a tree.”
“Oh, wow I had no idea.” Leaning down, I start to say sorry for being so inconsiderate. “We should leave this place alone then.” Reaching down to help Maggie get up, we both move on.
After walking around for hours, I realize that the sun is starting to set, thinking that we should get going soon, I look over at Maggie, She seemed to have noticed the same thing. “Let's get going now, we still need to get back to town.” With Maggie nodding, we start to head back. I can tell Maggie has something on her mind.
Is something wrong, you know you can talk to me about anything, right?” Concerned about her, I try to comfort her, let her know that whatever is wrong, I will try to help, she has done that for me on multiple occasions.
Smiling she starts to tell me what is on her mind. “It's just this place, it has been falling apart for hundreds of years, if she lived here, how old does that make her?” After saying that, she returned to her thoughts, almost like she was talking to her self then.
After that had been brought into the open I realize that thought has been in the back of my mind as well, I just never wanted to admit it to myself. Because when I did, other thoughts came along with it. Who exactly is she, you never see anyone looking for their soul mate for that long. We walked the rest of the way in silence, barely even recognizing that the other was there, we were both to lost in the questions rolling around our brains. How much do I really know about her?
