Did you feel it? Did you feel the thrill of it? The thrill of all that blood you saw? Oh, hunts are gonna be so fun.
That day, well, that evening, to be exact, Gabe and Lucy went back to the Academy. It was almost dark so the school day was soon to end. You could already see some students that didn’t have their last class rushing home. Gabe and Lucy, however, weren’t rushing home. They took Mike to the Academy, leaving him with the headmaster while they wrote the report. Gabe, like promised, didn’t mention Lucy overlooking that the demon was a Kudaki. . .
Wait, what? Don’t tell me you guys didn’t already figure out what a Kudaki is? Fine, I’ll tell y’a. When an entity with spirit energy is about to become a demon, it can fight back the demonic possession. If the entity has something powerful connecting it to this world, to its life, it can latch on to that and refuse to turn. ’Cause, for a demon to turn you physically, it must also turn you mentally. It destroys you from the inside out. So when the entity turns away from the demon inside, when it doesn’t let the demon break him, it stops the turning mid-way. And that’s when a Kudaki is born. The entity then has some of the demon’s powers, but not as strong as they could be. So that’s what happened to Matthew. As for the reason Matthew had to latch on to this world, that I do not know, nor will I.
Anyway, after Lucy and Gabe finished the reports, they carried them over to the headmaster. Lucy went to her room in the Academy (the Academy has those for students who have nowhere to go, because a lot of them get thrown out of the house when their parents find out about their powers). Gabe went to the place he lived in, which was with the headmaster’s home. In the morning, Lucy received a message from the Academy, requesting her presence. Confused, fearing they had found out about the Kudaki incident, she rushed to get ready and headed towards the main campus right away.
The Academy contains of several connected builds, all inside one castle like structure, surrounded by giant walls. Under the Academy is a giant anti-demon spell, stretching throughout the wall and creating a giant dome of protection around the whole school. The wall has four towers, one on each of the world’s sides. On the southwest, a lot more towards the west though, is the main gate. After you pass the giant gate you are greeted with a pathway trough a little park with a fountain in the middle. The fountain was built by Annabelle Rabbitpaw, a very famous architect and an amazing mage. If you keep going on the marbled road you will find yourself in front of the main gate of the main campus, a large steel construction again made by Annabelle, decorated with skull-shaped tops of the gate’s bars. Inside the smaller walls surrounding the main campus was the building itself. Its huge interior was covered in all kinds of decor, contrasting itself in black and white. After you go trough the main entrance you are greeted with giant halls to the left, to the right, and in front were stairs leading up to other floors of the establishment. The hallways both circle to the back of the building, to two giant gyms for recreative classes like D.A.D. On the right side of the main campus, connected to it via a bridge that leads to the second floor of both, were towers where the student’s dorms were. The towers were built a little bit after the main campus, but by the hand of the same architectural genius. The inside of every tower has a spiral staircase on the east side and students’ rooms on the other. The inside of the rooms themselves has changed a lot with time, depending on the needs and the living requirements of the generation living inside. On the left of the campus was the nursery. It doesn’t happen rarely that a student is hurt in class, especially in D.A.D. The nursery is equipped with all sorts of healing acceleration spells, and other medical stuff (I was never really interested in medical arts so I never really understood what any of the things were there). And if you’re thinking the Academy is in the middle of a rainforest, you’re very wrong, it’s actually located in a town in the middle of a rainforest. The town’s name is Kokuen, meaning black monkey. The residents of the town are people who know about demons, mostly victims of attacks. They were offered refuge here saying they would be safe in a town of hunters, for the sake of avoiding them telling the world about demons, and for the sake of the victims themselves (a lot of ’em get PTSD).
More importantly, I bet you’re wondering why would the Academy want to keep demons a secret. Well, there are several reasons. Let’s ignore the obvious collapse of society and religion due to fear and terror they would cause and say people found a way to deal with it. Hunters couldn’t work in peace of the constant flooding of people admiring them, there would be daredevils trying to find them, people would surely even start a religion based upon worshiping demons. But the worst thing would be people trying to kill demons without shohu-zhe. Basically, mass death and destruction would rain upon earth. Now the Academy does have another reason to keep demons a secret. It’s in their agreement with the funding states. Few governments around the globe have heard about the Hunters so they started funding the Academy in a collaboration with the headmaster. None of the governments know the location of the Academy nor the names of the staff and the hunters, due to the contract they signed with the headmaster. In return of the funds it receives, the Academy will keep fighting demons and keep their existence a secret. Several countries accepted this proposal including England, Russia, Japan (big ghost problem, though they asked the Academy not to kill some, for touristic purposes), Australia, of course, and a few others.
