“So, we just came to town and got this number from the informant in our last. We ar--”
“Contrasts am I right?” I had seen many before, so being able to tell just by a single look had become natural to me. Besides, the only people that would get sent on to me are Contrasts.
“Wait, how did you know?” Ah, his cluelessness continues to amuse me.
The girl seemed like the much more quieter type in comparison to this guy.
“Well… Of course, an informant would know..” it comes silently from the girl.
“That's…. True..” I guess the smart one of them is the girl.
“Well well, we should probably introduce ourselves properly to each other” This should surely break the awkward ice that the boy has put over the situation.
“Well uhm.. I’m am uh-”
“Oh come on did you forget your name in front of a pretty girl?” she laughs.
“No no! Ethan! Ethan Woodland” He says, waving his hand in front of me to shake. To that I giggle a bit, causing him to retract his hand and his pale face to turn a bit red.
“Ethan and..?” “Elizabeth. Just call me Liz”
“Ethan and Liz.. My name is May. And, I guess my job, for now, is to help you settle into New Kingsfort?”
“Yeah, that's more or less it” - it comes from the boy in a bit more serious tone than the one he has been using till now. Kinda makes him sound a bit more mature than what is good for his cute face. Well, not really cute just from an objective viewpoint if you know what I mean…
“Hey, Ethan can you go get the things we ordered?” Liz says.
“Uh, sure.”
As soon as he had gone up to get the things, the girl leaned in over the table towards me.
“Don’t get any funny ideas, he is taken” it suddenly comes from Liz in a low and threatening voice. Gave me the chills and from the way she leaned back again, she had noticed.
I was about to say something smart back but got interrupted by Ethan coming back with the drinks and my brownie.
This Café really do make the best brownies in town.
A black coffee for Ethan, Cappucino for me and.. a pumpkin spice for Liz? Well, everyone has their own tastes I guess.
The mood had gone a bit foul as you’d expect from the situation with Liz, but a totally clueless and cheery Ethan did most of the talking for us anyway.
“Well-” I interrupted. “We should come to the point of discussing the services and payments”
“Oh, yeah of course..” He looked like a puppy told ‘no more treats’. I can see why Liz is so protective. A bit too much. Not like I'm gonna just jump a client. Wouldn’t really be beneficial for me economy vise. Few enough Contrasts as it is, don’t need even fewer clients.
