Em narrowed her eyes and tried to read the screen in the corner of the room, but the angle made it very difficult. The letters were red and flashing, so it couldn't be good. She thought that it looked like the word 'Error'.
She wanted to get inside and look around, but she'd need a key-card to do that. Em scoured the floor nearby, wondering if she could have missed it, and then, on a whim, decided to check her pockets. To her wonder, she felt a square shape inside her front left pocket. She's brushed over it earlier when she's been more focused on finding injury. It was rather unremarkable, a simple plastic card with a barcode and a label on it that said. 'Security Pass'. There was a band of blue above the bar code.

She pulled the card out and slid it through the slot. There was a faint electronic beep, and it sounded enormous in the silence of the hallway. The door unlocked with a resounding click. Em stepped inside the laboratory and the door shut behind her.
