I gripped my leg tightly to somehow attempt to lessen the pain. A dagger was lodged in my left leg, right below my waist, thank god it did not hit anything vital.
Shit! If I had my essence I could lessen the pain or I could have even stopped it before it hit me or...
The sound of approaching footsteps made me look up. A familiar figure approached calmly holding another dagger that was identical to the one lodged in my thigh. I scowled through my bangs at the approaching figure.
"Dhoso?" Saa said while the colour in her face became whitewashed.
"Saazeammie? What a surprise to see you here, last time I checked you were researching a new skill outside of the city," Dhoso mocked sarcastically.
Saa glanced over her shoulder to check on my condition. She nodded slightly as if to tell me something, I was clueless. She bit her lip in frustration then turned back towards Dhoso.
"You know I always looked up to you..." continued Dhoso, but I ignored her.
It's honestly so stupid how villains always have a really long and predictable monologue planned. Who even scripts those? I need an explosion or something to shut her up with..
Suddenly it all came together. Saa wanted me to use the bomb as a distraction so I could escape.
I looked up at her small frame shielding me from Dhoso's broad build.
I took a deep breath.
Sorry leg, I hope I don't end up with any permanent damage..
I began to attempt to stand up ignoring out the pain. I could see Dhoso rambling, I made no attempt to listen. I leaned forward into Saa's back.
"I'm going to run, cover me when I give the signal," I whispered to her back. I was not sure if she actually heard me but at this point I could not care less. I braced my self. Unconsciously holding my breath.
"NOW!" I yelled at the top of my lungs.
I sprang from the ground and made a run for The Gate. Saa ran with me protecting me from Dhoso's advances.
A sudden explosion threw us into a wall. Saa had successfully blocked it for me but she had passed out from shock. A thin barrier was still protecting her.
Dhoso's underlings began flooding the room. If I hesitated now I would surely die.
I pull the gem out of my storage and raised my hand high. I smashed the gem onto the floor so hard you might have been able to hear the explosion throughout the entire capital.
I was thrown into The Gate by the force of the explosion.
Saa had survived the blat and was still protected. Dhoso had survived as well, her underlings were not as fortunate, but her right hand was severely burned. She had been thrown across the room and was not able to reach me in time.
There was not much left of the 5th Building, in fact the only thing that survived was The Gate.
As my last 'gift' to Dhoso, in the few mili-seconds before The Gate transported me; I threw my hand out in front of me and made a particularly rude gesture directed towards her.
Goodbye you shitty land of greedy people.
And I was gone.
