“I don't understand why you need my help, you have got lots of powerful shifters in your community. Why do you want help from one of the weakest elements?”
The creature in her lap started to sleep restlessly, twitching and moaning. She petted it slowly.
“Schhhhh, let’s not make a mess now, shall we?” It calmed down and went back to its slumber. “Because we need to know what they want. We need to know if they are a threat. I'm not interested in your element, I'm interested in your psychic ability.”
“Can’t you just ask them what they want?”
“They might be lying, listen Delmar, you might be weak but you’ve got an ability not even us energy shifters could dream of. You can read another being's mind”
“Of course he'll help you!” Angi interjected. She had been standing quietly for a while.
“Angi!” he looked at her irritated. “I haven't agreed to anything!” he exclaimed looking back at Radiation.
“But Delmar, think for a moment. Isn’t this a much better way to prove yourself than to hunt around after my pack and Ramsey?” Angi said.
“Of course we'll give you something in return" Radiation added. “How about I make sure you'll get pardoned for murdering several innocent element shifters? But in that case, you must stop going after innocent people"
“I don't know, I met Reed the other day, he didn't seem interested in putting me behind any bars.” Reed was a part of the chemical faction who was in charge of law and order among the shifters.
“Trust me, there's nothing he wants more. The problem is, he’s got no real evidence against you" Radiation answered.
“Then you can't really offer me anything” he said with a grin relieved that no one had any evidence even though they knew he was guilty.
“What do you want then?”
“Nothing you can offer me." Delmar turned around and started to walk for the exit.
“You could give him some recognition? Take him into your community and let him be someone?” Angi said.
“I could only add him to my faction, but people would wonder why an ice shifter was in the radiation faction.”
“Then let them wonder, it would give him some attention. Can’t you guys see that's all he wants? That’s why he has been attacking and killing all those other shifters."
Delmar stopped and turned around. He looked like he wanted to kill Angi, right there and then.
“Come on, Delmar, it's not like we got anything else to do." Angi walked up to him.
“I hate you." he said quietly.
“No you don't.” she smiled. “Come on, it could be fun. Isn’t this what you wanted? To get some respect from the others?”
“Fine…” he mumbled angry.
“What?” she looked at him with a big smile.
“Fine I’ll do it!”
