Milky Way ran over to the fence. She heard footsteps behind her, causing her to quickly jump the fence. She ran for the trees, her mind racing. She could hear her heartbeat in her ears, causing them to twitch from the sound.
She kept on, her paws aching from work, and now from the running. Milky Way knew where she was going, but the real question was..would they except her?
Milky Way was resting in a small patch of thick grass. She was out of breath and sleepy, but had to stay awake. She had to! She couldn't sleep until she was in the willow tree. Milky Way rested there for a few more minutes, the cool wind and grass calming her. She got up, slowly, and began walking into the willow woods. She stopped after a few minutes by a lake, smiling. She knew she was close. She lapped up some water, sighing at the refreshing feeling. She climbed into the water and went through.
She wasn't from River Tail's pack, sure, but she knew kinda on how to swim across a steady lake. She kicked her legs slowly, the bank getting closer with every movement.
Milky Way was across the lake in minutes, shaking the water off her fur. She quickly ran up the hill, smiling when she saw the giant willow. She yipped and barked, hearing chatter on the other side. She ran through, easily dodging branches. She smiled when she saw the wolves, and quickly ran to the large boulders. "Mom! Mom!" Milky Way cried, tears welling in her ocean eyes. An older, ebony-colored wolf looked at her, her face filled with confusion. When she saw the creamy female, she gasped, tears forming in her eyes. "M-Milky Way?" the older female said in disbelief. Milky Way nodded, tears streaming down her face.
The two ran towards each other, meeting in the middle. "Mom.." Milky Way choked out, nuzzling into the thick ebony fur. "River?" another wolf said, walking over. Milky Way looked over and saw her older brother, Noka. She smiled at him, quickly nuzzling up to him as well. Noka smiled at her and wrapped around the smaller female, licking her fur lovingly.
"Where have you been?!" River huffed out, a smile still on her muzzle. She licked her daughter's fur as she listened, the story causing many growls and tears from the wolves. "And now, I'm here.." Milky Way said, looking at everyone. River smiled at her and stopped at a growl. "What, Moose Horn?" she growled, looking at the male. "Her neck..." the hunter growled, his eyes glued to Milky Way's neck. Everyone looked and gasped. "She was owned by hunters!" Moose Horn yowled, snarling at the female.
River snarled at him, her own radio collar showing. "As was I! But I don't hear any complaints!" she growled, her fur bristling. "Yours doesn't have this dot." a silver female said, looking at Milky Way's collar. River looked, and indeed, there was a red dot. Milky Way shook, backing away from everyone. She was getting herded towards a tree, everyone snarling and barking things like "She should be banished!!", "She smells of hunters. Throw her out!!", "Feed her to the Eagles!!", and many more. She sobbed lightly at everything, her eyes turning a light red from the crying.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!!" a loud voice yowled, making everyone go silent.
Everyone looked at River as she stalked through the crowd, everyone shaking at the menacing glare on her face. "Milky Way, do you know how to turn that collar off..." she asked, looking down at her daughter. Milky Way trembled under her, shaking her head lightly. River let out a sad sigh.
"...then I'm afraid we must consider the trials..."
