I found a scrap of paper the other day. I didn't understand the squiggles, but I decided to connect them with red ink that came from my finger tip. They were stars across a glorious constellation, and then it hit me.
I was making stars inside the mirrors edges.
I looked up, and, sure enough there were long red marks. I smiled as I began to draw more and more, making a masterpiece. Making the stars. I began to draw more intricately as what seemed like seconds wavered by. When I was finally finished, the mirror was covered in the red ink. I smiled widely, leaning my head back to soak it in. My loneliness was surely covered by the stars I had mapped..right? I sighed, sitting down, then feeling a small hand on my shoulder.
"Father!" it called out, it's lips stretching the word. As I turned to look at it, I screamed, backing away as I heard some of my master piece crumble. It hurt. The things face was grotesquely pushed in at the cheek bones, eyes falling out of eye sockets that were to big too begin with, teeth all missing- I stared in terror at the familiar being as I got up, backing away faster. I needed to breath, I needed air. I ran to the front of the mirror where my master piece mounted high above me lay. I punched at it, screamed for help. But nobody came . I felt my heart beat pick up as it screamed too be free of my chest. I had to do something to make this pain end. I felt the mirror crack, but did not shatter as I whimpered, screaming in vain. I felt a hand on my shoulder, as I turned, gulping in air to meet eyes with a tall woman. She had no eyes, a twisting smile curved up her cheeks, her ears were missing, and her teeth- missing. I yelped in surprise.
"No! Stay back!!" I screamed in a terrified tone.
"It'll be okay.." the thing cooed at me gently; which I in reply, ran off, looking for a way out once again.
