CONTENT WARNING
I guess it's pretty apparent from the summary and this prologue, but just in case: this series features heavy themes of suicide and depression. If mentions of these topics make you uncomfortable, I strongly advise to stop reading now.
It begins!
Decided to post the prologue on the eve of All Hallows' Eve, and the first part of chapter 1 on All Hallows' Eve (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑ Next updates will be weekly, though.

Good lord. This short prologue sent all sorts of shivers down my back to be honest. It definitely has a horror vibe. But what makes it truly striking is that it plays up to all our childhood fears. For one, the young girl looks like a child, everything about her, from her long hair that looks like it is engulfing her silhouette, to the daintiness of her skirt speaks of innocence. However, her thoughts and her eyes are those of a grown adult. She examines her surroundings, takes in the fact that they are devoid of any other human presence and there is just such tired acceptance of the fact. As if she expected the punishment. And of course, as soon as one acts in such an uninterested manner, especially if it is a child, the first thing that comes to mind would be a very difficult childhood (most probably the background of the young girl will be revealed in following chapters). Well, you've succeeding in making a heavy weight settle in the pit of my stomach and a shiver run down my spine without as much as making the monster under my bed crawl out. Good job. This is a very, very promising debut and should hook your readers up as fast as lightning.
