Kenji sits around in the hospital staring at the ceiling as odd nausea rumbles his stomach. He twists and turns in the bed trying to find some form of comfort only to fail. He loses all sense of time; he continues his fumbling believing hours have passed while only mere moments of real-time actually move.
His stomach continues rumbling as he tosses and turns with his temperature raising. The sweating begins and almost immediately he it seems to cover him. His body soaked, he forces himself to raise up as sweat beats down from his brow.
“So, I see you’re not feeling well,” Dian says walking into the room as she looks down on Kenji. “I guess you and Repi are still linked even in your current state.”
“Dian?”
“Yeah, I’m here.”
Kenji smirks. “I must be delusional, there’s no way you would show up to take care of me in years.”
Dian punches Kenji in the stomach and glares down at him. “Is that how you think of me?”
“Dian, you're really here!?” Kenji yells out. “I thought I was hallucinating.”
“No, I’m here. And yes, I’m here to take care of you at least for the moment.” Dian sits down in a nearby chair and sighs. “We got a call from the hospital that your condition worsened so Dad and Oriana are watching over Repi and I came to check on you.”
“Well, thanks,” Kenji says. “But how’s Repi? If I feel this bad, I wonder it’s affecting Repi.”
Dian turns her head away. “Anyway, we should worry about your own health for now. If we aren’t able to make your healthy, we’ll never be able to deal with Repi’s current condition.”
“Repi’s condition?” Kenji asks forcing himself up. “What’s wrong with him?”
Dian stands up and lowers him onto the bed. “Calm down, we’ll deal with that later. For right now we’re taking care of you now. Got it!”
“Fine,” Kenji mumbles. “I’ll stay calm for now and get better, but once I am you better, tell me what’s wrong with Repi.”
Dian pulls off her bracelet. “Fine, I’ll tell you, but for now all you can do is rest.”
Kenji closes her eyes and relaxes with Dian focusing on him and closing her own eyes. She reaches out and senses a thin connection reaching from Kenji out towards the distance.
“What is this?” She asks reaching out and feeling the connection. “It’s so much weaker than it was before, what happened?”
She opens her eyes and stands walking to the door of the room. “Whatever is going on this is weird. I’ve never heard of anything like this happening before, what is going on here?”
Meanwhile, inside of the warehouse, Toshiro stands up over Repigigas as the large lizard lays unconscious on the floor. A team of various doctors looks over it as they examine it with machines and small devices. Small drones fly across Repi’s back scanning the surface in an attempt to examine its muscles as others search for its electric sacks.
“Still nothing unusual maim.” One doctor says looking towards Harry who oversees the group. “Should we continue?”
“Yes. We’re staying here until we can at least determine the symptoms and prescribe some form of treatment.”
“Yes maim.”
The doctor walks back to the group as Oriana walks up to Harry with her head lowered. “Raise yourself, Agent.”
“But this is all my fault. If I were more attentive or if I had known what was happening with him then, maybe.” Oriana says lowering her head.
Harry smiles. “You're still new to this team so you haven’t fully integrated yourself yet. Keep observing everything and make your reports when necessary.”
“What do you think happened?” Toshiro asks walking up to the pair.
“Toshiro,” Harry says annoyed. “Why are you still here?”
Toshiro stares at Repigigas. “I can’t leave one of my teammates alone like that.” He says happily.
“So, you’re worried, of course, you are. Even you would be worried about this.” Harry says with a slight grin.
Oriana looks at the pair and notices how casual they seem around each other. “What’s going on here?”
“Oh, Harry here is my ex-wife and my former Minder,” Toshiro says happily.
Harry turns her head away. “I wish you would stop telling people that.”
Oriana stares at Harry with a look of shock on her face. “What!?”
“I will admit that for a time I was married to Toshiro, and I worked as his Minder back in his Brawling days. But my psychic abilities weakened over time and I divorced him for his… ways.” Harry explains.
“Ways?”
“Oh, come on.” Toshiro steps ahead and stares into Harry’s eyes. “I know you still love me, even if you try your best to hide it.”
In a quick motion, Harry holds Toshiro’s arm behind his back as she pushes him over forcing him into an uncomfortable position. “What was that?”
“You know I love it when you play rough with me,” Toshiro says jokingly.
Harry scoffs and tosses Toshiro away as she stares back at Repigigas. “So, it just randomly went nuts?”
“Yes, he did,” Oriana says. “He was acting oddly rampaging as his body sparked with electricity. I had never seen him like that, he’s normally more playful and calmer even when Kenji isn’t around.”
“Well in Kaiju terms Repi is but a kid, so I can imagine he’s having his own thoughts and motives, but this is quite odd,” Toshiro says picking himself up. “I know in normal circumstance’s you’d pull us from the battles, but I appreciate you ignoring this.”
“Ignoring?” Oriana asks.
Harry sighs. “I wish you wouldn’t give my junior odd ideas. I’m not ignoring this I’m just suggested that we just wait in on the matter until this matter either resolves itself or becomes worse.”
“Well, I still appreciate it,” Toshiro says happily. “So, we’ll take part in the next match.”
“Is that a good idea?” Oriana asks.
“The best thing we can actually do. If we don’t move forward and just act cautiously, then all we’ll do is just be extra careful.” Toshiro says happily.
Oriana lowers her head. “Are you actually going to be here this time for the battle?”
“Have you considered that I prefer seeing how my dear daughter and pupal deal with the situation without relying on me.”
Harry rolls her eyes. “You better be careful dealing with my daughter, just because she wanted to stay with you doesn’t mean I’ll allow it forever.”
“Fine,” Toshiro says.
“Anyhow Oriana I’m relying on you to make sure the situation doesn’t get any worse,” Harry says. “If it does, we’re acting immediately.”
Oriana salutes. “Yes maim!”
In the hospital, Kenji lays in bed as Dian stands over him with a curious look on her face. Every so often she reaches out and touches his head sensing his inner thoughts as his body warms. Sweat protrudes from his brow as he shakes in his sleep with Dian occasionally attempting to cool him off.
“Come on Kenji, you better get better or else I’m beating you until you need to stay in the hospital,” Dian says seriously.
Kenji opens his eyes. “Dian.”
“What?”
“I want to see Repi,” Kenji says sternly.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea in your condition?” She asks.
Kenji forces himself up. “If you won’t help me, I’ll go myself, but I’m going to see Repi.”
“Alright.” Dian stands and looks down on Kenji. “Better I escort you than you fall over dead in the streets. But if you get worse then I’m dragging you back here.”
Kenji forces a smile. “Thank you.”
“Fine let’s go, but we’re not getting a wheelchair.”
“Don’t need it,” Kenji says forcing himself out of bed only to fall over onto the floor.
Dian stands over him and looks down. “Alright, how about you just lean on me until we get there.” She says seriously.
