"Agh why did you call, Vanessa?"
Alex said, accepting the call. It was his stepmother, calling because she claims she is worrying about him. Beside him Jayden quitely listened as they walked towards Sunshine Saloon, located by the beach.
"Alex! You can call me mother!" She said on the other side of the phone call. "I checked with Karl and he said you went to the west coast for your autumn vacation?"
This woman grew up in a rich family. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She doesn't know anything about the real world.
Alex thought to himself. "Listen Vanessa, what happens with me and Karl is none of your business. You keep doing what you do with my dad."
"Awww that's very sweet of you Alex!" she said, pretense-lessly. "Just remember, mother is always behind your back, as long as it's... say it with me Alex."
"...not illegal," They said together, though a bit out of sync.
"Now, my little Alex, I have a friend over at the west coast! Her family has a banana farm, you know you could always ask for help if you need it over there," she said, lie-lessly.
"Yes, Vanessa."
"Did you remember to bring a jacket? I saw on the news that it is raining over there! My little Alex must be so cold right now."
"No um I brought a Jacket," Alex said.
Damn this Karl, he could have just told her they were staying with him.
He just wanted the call to end so he could talk with Jayden.... They are now a few blocks away from Sunshine Saloon. He hopes no one sees them.
Wait Jayden? Pajamas? Where did you go?
He turned around looking for Jayden.
And Vanessa is still talking, she's so blissfully ignorant.
"Yeah and also I bought you some candy bars, I found out that the ones with the melted caramel center are you favorite! Um I had to read through your mothers diary though I hope you don't mind....Okay I know it is wrong of me, but I'm sorry Alex I just wanted to be closer to you," She began weeping, fake-tear-lessly. But Alex couldn't hear any of that.
He was being dragged away by men in black suits.
"We have captured Alex," Patrick said, reporting in.
"Oh! Good!" She exclaimed, hanging up the phone. "We were just having a very very fun, truly, conversation across the phone. And that Mitchell's boy?"
"He is unconscious and currently shipped to the Fishermen's base at the Garak islands."
"Great!" She said, making little claps. She took a sip of her tea then commanded. "You're to interrogate Alex as federal agents. You're to let him go then step in during his infiltration. You're to chase him out to sea where he will conveniently find an escape boat. Are my instructions clear?"
"Yes, Madam Varier."
"Good, tell them to send Christina in as you leave."
Sip.
Excuse her, that was a rather thirst-inducing conversation. She took a sip of her champagne as Chris, still bound and dressed as Christina, was brought in.
"See, Chris slash Christina, you have betrayed your family, which is a big no-no for me."
She looked at her, snarling.
"Don't snarl at me dear, that's rather impolite. I am here to offer you a chance to redeem yourself," she placed her glass on a mat on the table. "Rumor has it that Mitchell's boy has unique.... "abilities". I have brought him to a remote island so you can test this theory for me. You are to do the following..."

Being in a boat while tied up was not a good sensation. That was the first thing Jayden came to realise as he got up into a seated position. Not that he wasn't in one already, he was just slumped over, leading against the ropes that held him to the seat.
"You're up," a voice said in the steering seat. The lights of the ship bounced off the dark waters and hid the identity of the driver in a silhouette. Jayden couldn't tell who it was from the voice either, it was hard to discern through the rumbling of the speeding engine. He was gagged so all he could do was listen.
"I'm the henchman of whoever ordered for you to be sent to the island," the voice said. He had a large figure, a stern body, and a...
Familiar accent?
"Or at least that's what that person thinks."
He turned around...."Couldn't leave you two alone after all."
Karl?
"Let's see, mucking up your first mission already. This would look bad on your gangster resume."
Jayden could imagine Karl laughing at them from where he is.
"Alright, jokes aside. I have my suspicions on who this person is... but I can't have you telling Alex without good proof. In any case, this is all according to plan, just didn't expect them to be this brutal with you."
"Mmmmmm" Jayden shouted, still gagged.
"I'm guessing Alex didn't explain it to you about your abilities right? I told him not to. I didn't want to risk things going according to the events of whatever that person had in mind." He was referring to the mastermind behind this sequence of events, Lady Varier. But Jayden didn't know that.
Right now, Jayden doesn't know anything.
Abilities? This boat? The original plan was for them to make Christina tell them the security details on the day of the trade so they could infiltrate and obtain the box? That's what Jayden thought but apparently he was far off.
"For now I need you to play along. Don't worry if you don't know anything, but I promise we'll get you back to Alex safe."
What? What do you mean get me back to Alex? You say it like we belong together.
He thought that, though the only other thing on his mind right now, was how Alex was doing.

"I thought you were federal agents dressing like that," Alex said, standing over the unconscious bodies of the people who tried to take him away. The crash site of their car was a few feet from there.
A rustling could be heard behind the remains of the scene. Alex turned around to find two of them still hanging on. One tried to make a run for it, but Alex got to him faster than his own shadow did. He did an action which the latter could have only have described as a "maul" as his cheekbones were shattered by Alex.
"Where were you taking me?" He shouted into the face of the last person still capable to respond. Then he took the question back, realizing he had a more urgent issue at hand.
"And more importantly, where did you send Jayden?"
CHAPTER END

"GET OFF ME AND GET BACK TO THE WHEEL!!!" Jayden shouted, as the coastline shrank smaller and smaller.
"Shhh, we'll get a copter to come if we ran out of fuel." Alex said, undoing a zip that wasn't part of Jayden's safety vest. "Besides, I've got a personalized distress GPS signal on me at all times."
"We'll crash!!!"
"Countless times I'm sure," Alex said, holding Jayden down, still keeping an ear out for their safe word. "Just keep an eye out for any obstacles on the horizon kay? I leave my life in your hands."
It's no use, I can't stop this guy when he's like this.
But then again, the rumbling of the engine beneath them, provided another sensation. The water was splashed into them by the propellers and the movement of the boat. Jayden checked his clothes to see how much wetter he could get.
"My reflex time is poor."
"Then," Alex said, bending over to kiss him. "Lets make it a race against time."
