Sixteen years ago the Government did lead an expedition, but it wasn’t the story you were told. After heading out to check the livelihood and atmosphere of the world outside the City walls, the Soldiers and Scientist could not believe their eyes when they found a living civilization. Call it whatever you must, the point is- human beings existed outside of the City.
The ill-advised Government considered them a threat to the new system, to their system. So, they slaughtered them and burnt their settlements to the ground. They captured a few and experimented on them like wild cattle. Many of our scientists spoke out against this. Some of us even tried to refuse to participate, one of which was your Dad, Nick.
But for those crazy enough to actually oppose the Government were met with severe punishment and death. Your father, my best friend, worked personally with the aliens, he took care of them as well as he could. He developed a bond with them and eventually gained their trust. His heart mourned their loss each week and every day he would try to think of a way for them to escape. There was one leader among them.
Her name was Mona.
They treated her like a Queen and listened to whatever she said. Nick and Mona eventually got close, and as you might have already suspected, they fell in love. So, with my help, we managed to break her out of the cell and hid her away in his home for almost a year. She taught him many things about the world outside and he basked in his new-found knowledge.
Mona had incredibly beautiful long black hair with dark skin and green eyes. Hmm, I guess now I know where I got that from. Those people I saw, none of them had green eyes.
I’m sad to say, that their paradise did not last. When the Government found out about their little Romeo and Juliet nirvana, your father was killed and Mona was next in line. However, something saved her life for a few more months, something so special and rare and is the most important thing in my life, you.
I convinced the Government that the child the Foreigner was carrying could make for good research.
“Think about the endless possibilities! A child born from the two genetic traits… We should study it! We could learn so much.”
And thus, you were spared.
My head hung heavy and I lost myself in thought. It was almost like a nightmare, but one that I would never wake up from. My heart galloped in its socket, then came to a steady halt. Looking down at the picture for almost ten minutes, I finally found the courage to lift my head; boldly stared him in the yes then asked.
“So… how are we getting out of here?”
My love for you is so unclear,
yet I can't breathe, when you're not here
I wish I could hold you, touch you again,
Please do not say I was just a friend
I wish I could feel your tender touch,
You have no idea how I miss you so much
Please forgive my childish ways,
As the seconds are hours, and hours are days
