On the other side of the demon realm mirror, Sara popped out of the mirror first then Frey. After that, they both moved out of the way as Saul was jetted out of the portal and head straight into the bathtub.
“Again, with the landing. How do you guys do it?” Saul said as he struggles to get out of the bathtub.
Frey and Sara giggled at how stuck he was but then helped him up. Sara then remembered to close the portal this time, to not have a repeat what happened last time. Frey then escorts all of them downstairs in the main foyer.
“So, what is it exactly are we doing?” Saul asked as they made their way downstairs.
“We’re gonna meet up with my cousin in town,” Sara responded.
“You guys have a town here?” Saul asked.
“Well, we wouldn’t be living out here in the middle of nowhere if we didn’t.” Sara said. They made their way outside as all the maids were lined up towards a carriage outside the manor.
“Please have a safe journey.” Maids said as they enter the carriage. The driver then whipped the horses as the carriage drives up north. Saul looks around and sees they’re heading down a dirt road through the forest. He got worried about if the wolves would come and attack the carriage.
“Chill out will ya?” Frey exclaimed.
“You don’t think those wolves will come out and attack us again will they?” Saul asked.
“Not as long as we stay on the road. The problem with why they attacked last time was because you’ve entered deep into their territory. Hence why they wanted you as their breakfast.” Frey explained.
“I’m never stepping outside ever again unless I’m with one of you guys.” Saul exclaimed in fear.
“Buck buck buck buck” Frey makes bucking chicken noise as he makes fun of Saul.
Saul yells at Frey to stop making fun of how much of a coward he is. While Sara mostly sits back and enjoys the show in front of her. For the short amount of time they’ve met Sara was surprised that Frey got along so with Saul. To her, they almost seem like siblings, which made her smile a bit. As Saul and Frey continue their fun dispute with each other for about 10 minutes or so, they reached the gates of the south city. The guard at the gate recognized the carriage and immediately opened the gates for them. The carriage then passes through the gates and enter the south city. Saul looks out the window and sees that majority of the city is built like a suburban neighborhood like his hometown. Which is surprisingly what he didn’t expect. When he’d imagine that there was a city in this world he’d imagine it bigger and more sinister. But it’s a small town with housing apartments everywhere with fire lamppost at every street corner instead of an electric lamp post. Everyone looks like normal people. But then, normal is the last he needs to expect at this point.
“Enjoying the town so far?” Sara asked.
“Yeah, it reminds me a lot of my neighborhood back home. So, what’s your cousin like?” Saul asks
“well let’s just say she’s a bit ... different.” Sara tries to explain.
Saul chuckled at what Sara said.
“Oh come on. Compare to you guys she might be the most normal one of the bunch.” Saul said.
“Best to hold on to that thought.” Frey said.
“Why?” Saul asked cautiously.
“You’ll see.” Sara said.
The carriage then stops in front of a huge Mansion on top of a small hill. Not only was it bigger than the other house but also more detailed with different shades of pink. The gang exits out of the carriage and made their way to the front door. All seems normal until Saul hears screaming coming from the mansion. He was about to ring the doorbell when a butler was launch out of the door and started running for his life.
“DON’T COME BACK UNTIL YOU BRING PROPER PINK CARPETS AND NOT SALMON. MOVE IT PEOPLE WE HAVE GUESTS ON THEIR WAY HERE! THAT ISN’T PINK ENOUGH! BURN IT WITH THE REST OF THE NON-PINK GARBAGE! MOVE IT, PEOPLE!! MOVE MOVE MOVE!!” the little girl shouted.
“…………. I take it back. You guys are more normal than the rest of the pshychos here in this world.” Saul said as he had the biggest wtf expression on his face.
“Told you” Sara exclaimed.
The little girl was wearing a tutu like dress with pink over black over lining. The girl then turns around and changes her expression from furious to kind-hearted and greet them all.
“Why hello dear cousin and friends. Sorry for the last-minute cleanup decoration. It’s just that you don’t visit me that often.” The girl said.
“I can see why” Saul whispers to Frey. Frey giggles a little until the little girl glared at them.
“Wait a minute.” The girl exclaimed. The girl then came in and takes a closer look at Saul. She examined him to which Saul felt extremely uncomfortable about it since she’s invading his personal space.
“Mister, you’re not from around, here are you?” the girl asks.
“I’m….. new into town?” Saul quietly replies. The girl then grinned as she leaned in closer.
“You smell, very delicious.” The girl said as she licks her lips until Sara smacked her in the back of her head.
“Knock it off Kimberly. He’s not your dinner.” Sara said as she was ready to give Kimberly a second smacking.
“Geez Sara, do you always have to be so mean to me?” Kimberly said as she rubs her head.
Saul then went behind Sara as he was disturbed by the little girl. The girl then stood up and dusts herself off.
“Well anyway, new guy. My name is Kimberly Kandy. I’m Sara’s cousin.” She said as she flatters her.
“Nice… to meet you.” Saul said as he glared at her.
Annoyed by she let it slide and escorts them to the second floor. As they reached the second floor, the maids open a double door that leads into an office filled with plush toys everywhere. And like much like the house the plush toys were also pink. Which implies that she loves pink so much. Come on tone it down a bit will ya Kimberly? As Kimberly sat down on her desk at the end of the room, she pulls out some papers from her desk draw. Sara, Frey, and Saul sat down on chairs in front of Kimberly’s desk. She lay down some photos as it shows some cargo ravaged and ransacked.
“For the past few weeks, my deliveries have been raided by bandits. The reason why I called you here is to investigate who’s been behind these attacks. They’ve been at this for the past weeks and it’s starting to annoy me especially with my allowance is running thin now because of these raids.” Kimberly said as she pulls out a map.
“But this time I’ll be ready. The delivery will be coming northeast from here. I want you and a few of your guys to intercept the raid. And make sure the delivery comes here in one piece.” Kimberly said as she points the location of the delivery cargo.
“And what’s in it for us?” Sara asks.
“If the mission is a success, I’ll split the profit with you and your friends. After all, they can’t ask for cash from you all the time, right?” Kimberly suggested.
“fair point.” Sara said.
“Any reason why these bandits are robbing you?” Saul asks.
“Possibly want to sell off some of the cargo in the black market. Bandits like these will anything just to have a bit of cash. Especially during hard times. When you guys are done report back.” Kimberly replied.
“Very well. Saul, Frey, I want you guys to go outside for a moment. I’ll catch up in a bit.” Sara said.
“Roger that.” Frey said.
Frey and Saul got up from their seat and walked out of the office. But Sara remained in the office and she didn’t look too happy.
“what is it, dear cousin?” Kimberly asked.
“Those cargo deliveries, they don’t happen to be just new toys you bought?” Sara asked as she leans against her fist.
“Of course, you could never have too many plushies am I right?” Kimberly implied.
“yet you said a month ago that you don’t need any more toys did you not?” Sara asked fiercely.
“That was then and this is now. Time flows by quickly then you think cousin.” Kimberly replied. Sara then gave her a glare to which Kimberly felt extremely fearful upon her look. Sara then got up from her chair and leaves the office. Kimberly then sighs in relief. Sara’s death glare would always scare her half to death just by the look alone.
Sara then made her way outside and enters the carriage. She walked in as Frey was teaching Saul a little more about how to wield a gun properly.
“you sure you should give me this during the mission?” Saul asked
“would you rather be eaten by the wolves again?” Frey asked.
Saul said nothing and put the gun on its hostler belt that Frey also gave him. The carriage then makes its way out of Kimberly’s estate and heads eastward of the city. Saul looks out through the window of the carriage and sees a bunch of homeless people. Guess the demon realm has a bit of homeless in this world too. But some of them had bits of armor on them and rusty weapons like shields and swords. Some of their shields were used as signs that say “Will work to keep the war going.” While others were gathering together to dump their weapons at the end of a street corner.
“Are they soldiers?” Saul asked.
“War veterans. Most of them are mercenaries looking for work cause their guild either disbanded or were killed off. And this is what’s left of them. Fighters that lost their way of living.” Frey said.
“Was there a war not too long ago?” Saul asked again.
“A great civil war. Be glad that you weren’t around when it was still on going.” Sara answered.
“Why’s that? Saul asked.
“It lasted for five hundred years. And I’m glad it’s finally over. But the aftermath still holds a huge impact on everyone.” Sara implied.
Saul was going to ask another question but then he saw the discomfort Sara and Frey had on their faces. Saul kept himself silent on the rest of the way towards the eastern gates of the city.
