(The Plan)
The three girls sat there for about an hour coming up with their plan of action. Once they were done, they got up, and started working on trying to control their powers again. Sage ran around the field until she couldn’t run anymore, due to dizziness. When that happened, she went to go sit down and tried to practice summoning lightning. Then, when she wasn’t feeling dizzy anymore, she went back to running and so on. Sarah worked on channeling her anger. She didn’t have an anger problem, but she found out that she could control her powers somewhat better when she was angry. Same for a few other passionate emotions. So, she stood there, eyes closed, hands balled into fists, taking in deep breaths and thinking about all of the past memories and thoughts that made her mad. Finally, she had thought of enough things that she started to feel something.
She opened her eyes, and tried to do the thing she did when they were all practicing, hours before. She took a deep breath, picked up a pile of leaves that had fallen from a storm a few days ago, and threw them up in the air. Her eyes locked in on them, and her at claws came shooting out! When she was done, (not even 10 seconds later) hundreds of tiny leaf pieces were floating down from the sky. She smiled and let out a happy sigh. She kept doing that until she ran out of leaves. When she had finally run out of leaves, she tried to shape-shift into a few different animals—a hawk (she also tried a falcon), cat, wolf, fox, snake and a rabbit. She ended out being able to shape-shift into a hawk, cat, snake and a wolf. She felt she was making progress. Ava, on the other hand was working on her ice wall. She had found that summoning snow and ice was pretty easy. So, instead of working on that, she tried to make her ice wall into an ice dome. She worked on doing this for about forty-five minutes. It was effective. Then, she worked on her ice breath. She worked on not becoming light headed after a blow. Once she had gotten good at this, she worked on a “power attack”. This was where she used her ice breath to blow attackers away. Then, she would put an ice wall behind them, that way they couldn’t get away. She would then create an ice-trap using her ice spikes. This was quite energy draining, so, she only got to do it once or twice.
After all the extra practice, the girls felt that they were ready. They all gathered together in a circle, and went over the plan.
“So, is everyone ready?” Sarah asked, looking at the two other girls.
They looked at each other and said, “Yeah, we’re ready.”
“Okay, so, remember, when we get downtown don’t go and split up until we’ve all had a chance to get there. There is strength in numbers.” She paused, “Also, don’t tire yourself out and use all of your energy just getting down there. We don’t know who, or what could be waiting for us. If anything...”
“Yeah.” Said Ava, “Hopefully it’s nothing...”
“What do we do if it takes us by surprise?” Sage asked, slightly worried.
“Well, I guess just fight back the best you can, and don’t die.” Sarah replied. She gave a faint smile.
“WAIT!” Ava shouted, a hint of excitement in her voice.
“What?” Sage and Sarah asked in unity. Both a bit startled.
“I just thought of something!” She exclaimed excitedly.
“What is it?” Sage asked.
“We should have a team name!” She replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“Ohhh yeah!” Sage said, beaming.
“That would be awesome!” Sarah chimed. “And also helpful, that way we don’t have to give our real names!”
“Yeah!” Ava exclaimed.
“Okay, anyone have any ideas?” Sarah asked.
“Hmmm...what about Team Justice?” Sage asked.
“I think we should be The Force.” Ava said.
“Isn’t that like a Star Wars thing?” Sarah asked.
“Yeah, I guess it is...” Ava realized. “We could do The Fireworks.”
“Sarah, what do you think?” Sage asked.
“Well, I like The Force.” She replied.
“But you said that it was a Star Wars thing.” Ava said.
“Well, yeah, I did. But I didn’t mean that as a bad thing, I just thought that it was cool is all...”
They stood there for a few moments in silence.
“Sooo...The Force?” Sage asked, breaking the silence.
“Yeah.” Ava and Sarah replied, “Let’s go with that one.”
Ava looked at the time.
“Oh gosh! It’s five already??”
“What’s wrong?” Sage asked.
“Nothing, it’s just that my parents wanted me to be home by seven.”
“Then we had better get moving!” Sarah replied.
“Yeah.” The two agreed.
“On three. One, two, three, FORCE!”
And with that, they were off.
