Jekyll and Hyde passed whatever test they needed! I found out today from dad, so as soon as he got home we went shopping for some beds and furniture. At this moment, dad thinks that they should be going to school with me until the 8th grade, but he’s not making any promises. They are a smart pair so I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up skipping straight to college programs when they graduate.
Anyway, we were going to get them this cool bunk bed where the staircase was also dressers, but dad remembered that Hyde would need the one he already sleeps in because his life support backpack charges at night and that bed is apparently high tech enough to help him breathe properly so long as he stays in there. That and his job makes it mandatory that they sleep in those weird bed pods. So we just got some new dressers that double as a bookcase, a pair of desks for small spaces with drawers and shelves, some generic plastic clothe hampers, and two antiques looking battery-powered desk lamps.
Dad got a strange kick out of shopping for the twins. He seemed really ecstatic at the thought of them living with us, like he’s been wanting this for a long time, he’s kinda acting like he’s shopping for presents. He even admitted that he’s a bit nervous since he barely knows them personally, and he really hopes that things don’t turn out for the worst. He told me that he trusts me to help them around school, they’ve never been around other kids their age, except me, and they might not do so well with other kids and do things that’s not ‘normal’. I think what he means is their social cues, like when they snooped through my bag, or how they didn’t know what a ‘brother’ is.
I think he wants me to be more than a big brother to them, he wants me to help with their weird quirks, to try and make them act as normal as possible. But they’re not normal.
It’s clear that they didn’t grow up like normal kids.
And he wants me to help cover that? That’s not going to be easy...
They’re the academic type so maybe I can make a sort of study guide on what they should and shouldn’t do around people or something? But their quirks are beyond socializing. They’ll need to know basic things too — beyond family structure— shows, marvel movies, Disney, music, memes — I don’t even know if they know how to internet! Why couldn’t their coverup be in a place where the internet isn’t a thing yet? I don’t think they even have Spaniard accents, can they fake it? Or did they grew up in an English community? The cover-up doesn’t cover small things like this! How could I possibly cover a decade worth of material? Maybe I’ll start small, with the do’s and don’ts of society, and go from there? I apparently know the two more than dad, so maybe I can pick some shows that I think they’ll like? I should get started on this study guide thing.
