The guy was overly touchy. Lui Sheng had already taken a sit next to Kiran.
There isn't enough room for the both of us on this rock, thought Kiran. He was a big guy with broad shoulders, his body made contact with Kiran's, it made him uncomfortable. He shifted away.
Lui Sheng with a big grin, "Why are you backing away?"
Kiran only shifted farther away, he refuted, "Ever heard of personal space?"
"No, cause I haven't caught your name yet."
"It's Kiran." He said as quickly as possible. This Lui Sheng guy was way too much on the warm side, it made him feel like he had ulterior motives. Kiran made it clear on his face of his displeasure. Hong Wei better come back fast so I can leave.
"Cute." Lui Sheng commented.
"Wha-" Kiran flustered couldn't begin to retort before he heard the sounds of horse galloping.
"Brother Lui!" It was a younger boy about 15 years old on a valiant stallion, he resembled a softer version of Lui Sheng with big dark eyes. The boy appeared to have rushed, barely taking a breathe when he got off the horse.
"Took me all day to find yo- oh who's this?" The young boy's big eyes somehow got bigger as he looked at Kiran.
Kiran was practically used to the surprised looks by now. It didn't bother him much since he was used to the spotlight but it didn't mean he wasn't cautious of the strange looks and people's...desires.
"Luo Sheng? Ah, your too young to know." Lui Sheng stood up to look down on his little brother, shaking his head.
Luo Sheng pouted in reply, "Shameless!" He knew exactly what shenanigans his brother was up to. He only just got back from a far away task given by His Majesty and he didn't even bother to find his family but instead a flower to pluck!
Kiran watched the pair, one younger scolding the older one really reminded of his family, he chuckled to himself. The small chuckle didn't escape Lui Sheng's ears though.
A smile bloomed on Lui Sheng's face, ignoring Luo Sheng completely at this point, "You can laugh?" His happiness was too much it was practically blinding. Kiran felt like he just gained another puppy...
Of course I can.
Irritation appeared on Kiran's face. Before he could give Lui Sheng a piece of his mind, he saw Hong Wei returning.
Hong Wei first reaction of seeing Kiran with company raised one question: What problematic people did he attract this time?
...
Although Kiran and Hong Wei now had a hood on, there was one problem, or two. A very attractive man on a majestic horse and his younger brother was FOLLOWING THEM into town.
Along with the Sheng brothers came a row of cheers and fangirls. They followed them welcoming Lui Sheng home. It seems they had a lot of pride in this perverted man, thought Kiran.
Hong Wei looked disappointed at Kiran. Kiran knew exactly what the look was trying to say. You had one job: Don't attract attention.
When Hong Wei found out that the man was the Lui Sheng, he immediately took Kiran's hand and dragged him off. Not only did the man not disappear he was even pursuing them!
They were attracting more unneeded attention which ruined the purpose of obtaining the hooded cloaks in the first place.
Hong Wei walked faster with Kiran in hand hoping to lose him in the crowd but the crowd just opened way for Lui Sheng to pass.
"Stop following us." Hong Wei politely urged out, gritting his teeth. Glints of murderous intent flashed in his eyes.
"I'm not following you. I'm following Kiran." Lui Sheng retorted, deviating completely from his puppy look before, his face looked menacing directed toward Hong Wei.
"Doesn't change that you should stop it." Visible sparks and flames could be seen between the men, Luo Sheng and Kiran watched on the sidelines.
Kiran sighed, not wanting to get in between the men's rivalry, unaware that he was already in between it.
Kiran couldn't ignore the obvious threat though, that is, the troublesome, Lui Sheng.
He indeed attracted unwanted attention especially from this big shot. Instead of being wary, Kiran decided to take advantage of this fellow.
"Hong Wei, how much money do you have on you?" Kiran didn't know the currency of this world. His question was really asking if it was enough for basic needs.
"It's enough to sustain ourselves for 3 days of food and a place to stay." Hong Wei responded, shaking his money bag. Hong Wei was aware of Kiran's lack of knowledge in this area.
"How disappointing, Kiran leave this man, I can give you a life of luxury in my family's household." Lui Sheng barged in, flaunting his wealth.
Kiran wasn't tempted though. He was used to wealth and was numb to it. It was enough to have food in his stomach and a nice place to sleep. The issue was really on how much this sounded like a marriage proposal!
“It's fine, Lui Sheng. We are fine like this.” Kiran denied his offer.
As a cue for Hong Wei to speak up, "You only know how to flaunt your wealth, can't even get a man with your own ability." Hong Wei ridiculed, blocking Lui Sheng's view of Kiran by walking behind Kiran.
Lui Sheng smile broke and was ready to unsheathe his sword, “How bold, no one has ever dared to offend me.” Hong Wei reacted with hands on his throwing knives.
The crowd noticed a fight was about to break out and formed the circle around the two. Kiran blended into the crowd as well. Luo Sheng was crying in the corner, brother was creating chaos again!
"How dare that man offend our Lord Lui Sheng."
"It's basically suicide."
"Our Lord Lui Sheng will teach him a lesson with his life."
"Being able to see Lui Sheng fight, ah! I think I'm pregnant."
The crowd really had the utmost pride and confidence in their general. Ridiculing Hong Wei in picking a fight he can't win.
Kiran rubbed the space between his brows and groaned. Troublesome fellow indeed.
On the other hand, He was a bit excited internally, this is the first time, he got to see some real martial arts and fighting. Last time with Hong Wei, it happened too fast!
Lui Sheng is a profound general, maybe he can see a show. If it gets out of hand, he can probably interfere...or maybe he should do it now before blood is shed.
