I can't see through the inky darkness

Nothing seems to be awake tonight, there never is

Silently I wait for the rosy-fingered dawn to warm me

Overcome with anger, fear, sadness? I can no longer tell

My health has been on a decline as of late

Nightmares have become more frequent

I can only find rest in the safety of daylight 

Around and around this  game of cat and mouse

The terror has me in its grasp

and there is no way out

I have, somehow...

Forgotten how to sleep.
