I walk back down the street and make my way up to the Mason’s house. I knock on the door and a tall colored man answers.

“What do you want ma’am?” He says sternly.

I look up at him studying his features, his dark brown eyes and light skin complexion. His long knotted dreads and broad shoulders. He clears his throat getting my attention.

“State your business here.” He says looking down at me. “I need to see your mistress.” i say a little too loud. He opens the door wider and lets me in, “follow me.” he says and walks down a long corridor. We walk and pass huge pictures on the wall of the mistress. I dont see any pictures of the master.

“What happened to your master?” i say closely following behind him. “Thats none of your business, maid.’’ he begins to walk faster, making me jog just a bit to keep up. We make it to the mistress’s room and he walks right in. i'm amazed, he didn't knock or even speak his name before entering.

“What is it Benjamin?” the mistress is beautiful, she's wearing a long white dress that would only be assumed to be a wedding dress. She has her veil pulled back and a bouquet of flowers. I find this very strange. I move closer to Benjamin. “What is it you need girl?” i step forward. “I came to ask for help. Ive been having horrible headaches. The pain is unbearable.” the mistress walks towards me, throwing the bouquet up in the air watching for me to catch it. I hold the bouquet in my hands and look up at her. Shes staring at me now, looking me in the eyes with such concentration.

“Ma’am?” i say trying to look her back in the eyes.

“Quiet girl, dont speak another word.” she says then taking my hands and pressing them close to her chest crushing the flowers in the process. I look over at Benjamin motioning with my head for him to help me. All he does is smile putting his hands up and step back. “Thanks alot, dude.” i motion with my mouth. The mistress pats my face making me concentrate again then pulls me close, looking me in the eyes again she kisses me. “Now go home girl. Your headaches should be gone.” Benjamin walks me to the door pushes me out and locks the door.

“What in the world?” i scratch my head and start back home. i cant stop thinking about those two and that weird household.
