That's a good thought, to leave the name so as to keep others from being falsely accused. Initially, I'd figured it was just to be a bit sassy, but the reasoning was to be ethical. Of course, someone could still be falsely accused anyway or someone could try to forge such a note to hide their own crime, but it's still sensible to take such a measure, and shows a sense of responsibility.
