Melissa slowly opened her eyes to see a teenager sitting beside her bed reading a book. She panicked and pulled the sheets over her head. The boy look over and asked, "Oh, you're awake? "

Melissa kept quiet, she had ran away from her father, but she didn't have a plan after. She was always told that people would hate her if she was seen in public. When she didn't reply, the boy said, "I know you're awake. Try not to make my job too hard. "

"U-Umm... " Melissa muttered.

"What's your name? " He asked while still reading the book.

"M-Melissa. "

"I'm Zack. How do you feel now? "

Before she could say anything, her stomach grumbled. Melissa attempted to bury herself deeper into her blanket. Zack got up and said, "Do you want to eat? "

Melissa slowly nodded, but Zack was facing the blanket, so he wasn't so sure. He sighed and pulled the blanket. Melissa rolled off the bed and almost fell on her head if Zack had not caught her. "Look at me when I'm speaking. "

Melissa panicked again and struggled against the boy. Zack put her down and asked her if she wanted to eat. Melissa nodded again. Zack then pointed at her head and asked, "Why is your hair pink? "

"I was born like this. " She replied, on the verge of crying. She found Zack extremely intimidating.

Zack got a hat and put it on her head. He told her to try and tuck in all her hair into the hat. Melissa desperately did what he said.

After she was done, they went out and Melissa saw society for the first time. She gaped at everything from people to animals to merchandise. Zack tried to stop her, but Melissa had already ran to a store selling jewelry. She pressed her hands on the glass and stared wide eyed at the shiny metals and gems. The shop owner saw her and smacked her aside. "Were you tryin' to steal my stuff? " He shouted

"N-No. " Melissa cried.

"That's exactly what a thief would say! "

The shop owner lifted Melissa by the collar. "I'm gonna call the knights here to arrest you! "

Just then, Zack grabbed the owner's head and smashed it into the glass panel behind him.
