This morning when I woke up, I got my backpack and emptied it out, filling it with things I might need on this dangerous journey. I dumped in a bunch of my clothes from my drawers including shirts, pants, sweaters, socks, shoes, and… you get the idea. After that I took a shower, brushed my teeth and wrote a letter. The letter consisted of information on where I would be (a camp resort), who I’d be with (Noah and Mr. Solano), and when I’d be back (about a week). I also wrote in the letter to my parents that they shouldn’t worry, the resort wouldn’t be far from the city and we’d be close to authorities should anything occur. When I finished the letter, I sealed it up with some tape and slid under my parents bedroom door. I went back to my room, got my stuff and went down the stairs towards the front door. I opened it and took one last look at my house. It might be the last time I see it so I take a good look. With a sigh, I turn around and head out the door, silently praying I come back alright.
On my way to the bus stop to meet Mr. Solano, I run into Noah and we decide to walk there together. We started talking about what we might see in this “Oyx Dimension”. He said he hoped it’d have fast food restaurants and arcades like Earth. I then brought up the question how we would even get there. Noah thought about it, “I think Mr. Solano knows how to get to wherever we’re going, don’t worry about it,” Noah reassured. Even if what he said was true, I had a feeling getting to the Oyx Dimension wouldn’t be easy. I continued walking beside Noah and let my worries drift away. Noah and I arrived at the bus stop from yesterday around ten minutes later and saw Mr. Solano waiting there patiently. Upon seeing us, he waved us over and began to speak.
“Ah, you two are finally here. I wonder what took you so long,” he winked towards me and I felt my cheeks heat up. I looked at him with hateful eyes and ignored what he said to the best of my abilities. Noah seemed to no notice anything and smiled.
“Sorry, Teach, we met up and got lost in conversation.” Noah explained. I’m grateful that he explained but a bit disappointed too. Seems he doesn’t realize I like him...
Mr. Solano cleared his throat and proceeded talking. “Well, in any case, you’re both here so I’ll go over what is going to happen. We must first find the entrance to the Oyx dimension and how to enter the dimension without casualties.” Wait, casualties?
“Sorry, but, what do you mean ‘without any casualties’? Exactly how dangerous is this ‘mission’ of yours?” I questioned him, making quotation mark gestures. He avoided my eyes and responded in a small voice.
“Well, a mission to save the world has its fair share share of hardships. For this mission, getting there is the hardship. Traveling between dimensions is not an easy feat, one must hold much power to accomplish that without any injuries. So, yes, if you were wondering, there is a risk of you getting severely harmed while attempting to accomplish this task...” Mr. Solano hesitated before speaking again. “But don’t worry, I’ll make sure everything goes as planned. Ah, and, I feel we’re close enough to be on first name basis. Call me Chronos.” Mr. Solano-Chronos, bad habit, extended his hand for us to shake and Noah gasped beside me. I curiously asked him what was so surprising and Mr. Solano-Chronos smirked proudly.
“You seriously don’t know, Callum? Chronos, God of Space and Time, come on, we learned this last year! And no, not Kronus, King of Titans and Father of Zeus, that’s different. It’s rumored that he can telepathically speak with the person who will be his successor! But seriously, I can’t believe I’m talking to the Chronos!” I gave Noah a weird stare but he shrugged it off. I’m crushing on a weirdo. But he’s a cute weirdo.
“How do you know all of this?” I inquired. The telepathy issue was very interesting to me. But, why me specifically? Noah gave a long speech of how he loves greek mythology and that he has a whole collection of books on them. It was a very enthusiastic explanation to say the least.
