I wanted to start the year off by sharing the story of how I became an atheist.
This story will be a 3-parter.
I've been an atheist for my entire adult life. I wasn't very religious when I was young, but I still had powerful superstitions holding me back.
Most of my friends know I'm an atheist by now, but I don't think my family fully understand the strength behind this world view. I feel many think this might be a passing phase.
I hope that reading this series will help people understand that being an atheist doesn't mean giving up spirituality, or that being an atheist comes from a failure of faith. There are many reasons people become atheists, but our ending is the same.
We wanted to face reality.
