So for a while I had been questioning my gender and I was talking to my mom about it a few weeks ago. Now, I'm really lucky to be in the family I am. My dad is very accepting of me being gay, but I can tell my mom and step mom aren't too excited. My mother is by no means homophobic. She's still very loving and supportive but I can tell she wants me to be straight. So I was talking to her about questioning my gender, because I wasn't sure if I identified as female or non-binary. When she didn't know what non-binary was, I explained, and this woman said, "I think that's something you made up."
Now, I was in complete shock. I couldn't believe she said something like that and I was pretty upset at her the rest of the day. When I confronted her about it, she said she was joking. When I told her it was offensive and it didn't sound like a joke at all, she told me I'd get a lot worse in my future and told me I shouldn't assume and just get used to offensive statements. I was even more pissed off than I was earlier because instead of apologizing, she just excused herself and told me I had no reason to be offended. So, I told her that wasn't an excuse for what she said, and she just shrugged and didn't say anything the rest of the drive. She still hasn't apologized but it was a month or two ago so I don't think I should bring it up.
So yeah, there's that. I'm going to be posting a short story sometime soon. Hopefully. See y'all in the next episode!
