Weeks later after Elsdon’s death
The Westwind Elf Community had joined Northwind in their quest, killing all fairies for murdering Elsdon. Together they started a new order, The Wind. Baldwin had trusted Orion, Westwinds leader, with the truth. He knew Orion for a few years now. Baldwin considered him as his best friend. Orion didn’t really care what Baldwin would do as long he could have some of these powerful crystals for his own needs along with a few other things. Baldwin agreed to Orion’s terms right away. And so, the war against the fairies had begun.
Highland was the only region that stood up for the fairies. They tried to stop the Northern and Western elf-soldiers from doing this genocide. The young region’s leader, Avalon, tried everything in his power to save as many of the fairies as he could. Avalon had asked High Moon to join him to fight against Baldwin and his armies. High Moon never replied back. They stayed away from the war by closing all entries to their region. The fairies’ future was in Highlands hands. You would think that the fairies would fight to protect themselves. They did, they tried their best to save their fellow fairies but compared to the cruelty that the elves had in store, it seemed like the fairies were useless against them. Baldwin enjoyed seeing them being weak. However, it was a manslaughter on both sides. Many elves lost their lives in the field. Mostly fairies and the Highlanders were the victims in this war. The Winds armies were built out excellent soldiers. They had been trained for wars since these elves were just children. It’s like, they knew a war would come one day.
Baldwin wasn’t satisfied enough. Yes, he was winning the war but the Highlanders were still in his way. Because of that, with help of new ancient script-rolls he had conquered, Baldwin made a new kind of weapon he could use against Linkers. Linkers is the term you use for elves and fairies who have a link with a Mother Tree. This horrifying weapon sends out a signal that corrupts the link between a Linker and their Mother Tree. If a Linker stays too long in this signal, their link could be broken. Baldwin called it “The Breaker”, living up to its purpose. Meanwhile, Bishop had figured out the fairy language, he knew Baldwin’s true plans and had confronted him. He tried to talk Baldwin out of this war that they had been doing for all the wrong reasons. Baldwin threw him into the dungeons. He needed to think about what he would do with Bishop. He couldn’t just get rid of Bishop, he is way too wise for death. So, Baldwin used Bishop as a test subject to try out The Breaker on. After several attempts, it had broken Bishop’s link. He could never use his powers again. While Bishop was in fear, Baldwin laughed of joy. This would defeat Highland and the fairies in no time.
And so he did, there were no fairies left in Eviona. Fairies had become a fairytale. And for Eviona herself? Eviona had lost her once magical beauty. The kingdom of Eviona stopped living in harmony and peace. Birds stopped singing in the northern woods. Horses stopped running around in the landscapes of Eviona. Fishes stopped dancing in the southern seas. Eviona’s landscapes had turned dead. The Wind area was even more rotten. Nature had turned against them. And The Highlanders? They were about to be finished but then all the sudden, The Breaker's signal had stopped. Bishop had escaped the dungeons and destroyed The Breaker to its core. Baldwin was furious when he arrived and saw his glorious weapon broken. Bishop had enough time to burn the script-rolls about “The Breaker” and waited in the throne room for Baldwin to see what he had done. He wanted to see the look on Baldwin’s face.
“You betrayed Northwind!” he yelled as he entered the throne room. “You did, Baldwin. Go ahead, kill me!” shouted Bishop back. Baldwin grabbed Bishop by his neck. He was ready to die and join his friend, Elsdon, in the afterlife. Baldwin whispered in his ears; “Dead will be too good for you, Bishop. You may rot in the dungeons.” He pushed him on the ground. The elf-soldiers lifted up Bishop, held him and then punched him hard in his stomach. “The Highlanders will die one way or another. You can’t save them.” said Baldwin angry.
But what Baldwin didn’t know, was that this had changed things around for the remaining elves of the east, Highland would survive. They fought back with everything they got when The Breaker's signal stopped. Avalon and his elves had defeated the few armies Baldwin had sent to finish them off. Avalon knew this could not be the end of the war between them.
Highland will be ready. I will be ready..
