Myself and my friends extend a big thanks to Tapas user @KennDemon for recommending Overcooked – we’ve had a blast playing it!
Overcooked is a cooking game, but not like the ones you’re used to. Sure, you’re still making and ultimately delivering recipes to your hungry patrons, but I don’t ever remember Diner Dash taking place on an iceberg or between two food trucks barreling down the highway. Grab a friend, and prepare to scream “The onions are on fire!” – this is Overcooked, baby.
--Verdict--
Art: Squishy. This is a classic-looking Unity game, through and through. Nothing super special, but it works well for the game.
Gameplay: Chop, bake, stew, wash, and fire extinguish food with your fellow chefs in what are probably the most poorly laid-out kitchens in the history of forever. The more people you play this game with, the more hectic the game becomes - with that in mind, I recommend playing with as many people in the room as possible.
Replayability: Extremely high. Not only are the kitchens diverse, incredibly fun to play, and difficult to master, but the game also does a great job of keeping the core mechanics simple enough to quickly dive in at any stage.
Would I recommend? Overcooked quickly joined the ranks of my go-to party games like the Jackbox Party Packs and Ultimate Chicken Horse. This game is perfect for pick-up games from casual to expert gamers alike, so as long as you’re interested in some good-ol’ couch co-op I highly recommend trying it out.
