She had no business sitting here trying to figure out how to pick a lock and yet that’s exactly what she was doing. It had been a few hours since Heidi had told her what she needed her to do and Claire was beginning to wonder if it was worth it. Lockpicking was not her best skill she decided as she failed for the eighth time. She sighed and unlocked her door with her key, there was no use continuing. She collapsed on her bed in exhaustion and pulled out her phone.
“No luck. Thoughts?” She texted Heidi.
Heidi didn’t respond immediately so Claire set her phone down and took a nap.
“You just gave up?” Heidi walked into the room.
“What?” Claire rubbed her eyes.
“You gave up?” Heidi put her hands on her hips. “Just like that.”
“Well, it’s not going to work if I can’t even get in.”
Heidi sighed, “how many times did you try?”
“Like ten.”
“Only ten?” Heidi huffed. “Well, we’re going to have to try ten more times then.”

Heidi was persistent, Claire gave her that. They had been at it for an hour now, looking up tutorials on the internet before they finally figured it out. Claire still wasn’t sure she could actually break into the room when it all came down to it but at least she didn’t need to worry if she ever lost her keys.
“This is useless!” Claire threw the tool on the ground in frustration, “there’s no way this is going to work.”
“Not with that attitude it won’t,” Heidi said from her bed.
“Some help would be nice,” Claire growled.
“Yeah, but I won’t be there to help you in real life so why would I be there now?”
Claire groaned in frustration and set the tools aside. “I’m done,” she got up and went into the living room.
“What do you mean ‘I’m done’,” Heidi made air quotes as she stormed into the room.
“I mean ‘I’m done’. I’m not playing robber for you anymore,” Claire sighed and plopped onto the couch.
“Claire,” she sighed. “Claire, I need you for this. You’re the only person who can do it,” Heidi sat down next to her. “Look I’m sorry for pushing you but… I don’t know what else to do.”
