This land has been nothing but horrible outcomes for me. I've become a wanted dead or alive war criminal, I lost my left eye, and lost my wife, and my only son. Screw this place. That was my thought process today. The harbors here host the best ships the war torn land has to offer. Regardless of that these boats are in a absolute state of garbage. Like everything else in this land. My plan is very simple. Get to the harbor, kill everyone who stands in my way, overtake a ship, and sail it to the distant land of Estern. All I've heard about that place has all been good. Though this doesn't come close to raising my own morals.
Regardless anywhere is better then this place. I have been fed up with this pointless war for so long, I have been in this stupid war for Thirty years. I need to escape. So now that my plan has been explained, It's time to finally begin. I struck early morning, in the dark dusk. The nights here have always been pitch black. I've adjusted over the years of course, but most of the soldiers at the harbor are young. Most people don't live long enough to be my age, they wouldn't have as much experience as me when it comes to seeing in dark areas. Regardless of the hour, many fully armored men patrolled the docks. They would be pitiful. I fought something far more sinister and stronger ten years ago. I approached the docks and withdrew my two pistols, the same I had used on that horrible creature to defend my son. They withdrew their swords, but fell to the wooden bottom in a bloody mess. I scoped out the ships in the darkness and spotted the biggest one. I walked toward it but heard shouting from behind. I turned around and saw a crowd of heavily armored men with swords and torches of fire rushing toward me. I simply smirked as I reached for my bloodied axe.
"STOP!" They screamed. My smirk grew into a full blown smile. They approached me swiftly. I ran up to one and sliced their head completely off. Neck must of been damaged. I looked at the other soldiers slash their swords toward me all at the same time. With my left hand, I reached for the broadsword from it's spot on my back, and stuck it out blocking all of the swords. With my free hand It chucked the axe into one of the men's sides. They had horrible armor. he fell in pain as he bled on the ground. I reached to my side and grabbed a pistol and shot two other soldiers and lifted my blade up throwing the three others who were still trying to stab me off balance. In the moment of them backing up from my movement of my weapon I dashed forward and impaled one in the stomach. I shot the man laying on the ground in the head and took my axe back. The two remaining soldiers, regained their balance and began charging toward me. I chucked my axe into the skull of the one leading the charge and grabbed my pistol once more to quickly shoot the other one.
Suddenly silence returned. I walked over and withdrew my bloody axe. Reinforcements would be on their way any second now. I turned back toward the ship and sprinted. As on cue the men began chasing me again, but were way to slow to keep up with me. I climbed aboard the ship and ran over to where the anchor was. With great strength I lifted it up high and on board. By the time I finished lifting the anchor Three men had climbed aboard. Once again I withdrew a pistol and shot all three of them. I ran to the steering wheel and moved the boat. Screams of anger sounded from the docks as by ship sailed into the dark abyss. I sighed heavily. Those idiots weren't even attempting to follow me. That's when I heard a noise. I turned and looked across the ship. The sun slowly rose bringing light to the deck. Curiously, I left to explore as the ship sailed.
I had time, none of those guys seemed to be following me regardless. I looked across the ship investigating what had made the sound. Now I know what kind of sounds ships make, This wasn't my first rodeo. The sound I heard was more of a landing thud. I approached a bunch of barrels. Inside was lot of food supplies, the kind of stuff that would rot within a week. Whoever had the ship, wasn't planning on heading far. I heard shuffling from the other side of the boat. I wasn't alone. I withdrew my pistol. All there was on the other side of the boat was a couple of crates. "Come, out!" I yelled. I neared the crates cautiously. I turned the safety off of my gun, and loaded it, making a loud very audible click for my uninvited guest. "NOW." I yelled. Slowly from behind the crates emerged a figure I didn't recognize. He seemed like a kid, well, he seemed a just under the margin of an adult. I've never been able to properly guess people's age. He had pointy ears and messy green hair, and had a look of fear on him as he held out his hands.
"Please don't shoot!" The stranger called out. "Who the hell are you!?" I yelled, not taking my gun off of him. "I-I'm...." The stranger stuttered. "Answer me!" I shouted, intimidating him. He visibly shook a little harder. "T-Thimble sir!" He yelled. I lowered my gun a little. "Thimble? That's a stupid name. Did your parents hate you or something?" I questioned. "What...what's your name?" Thimble asked me. I refocused my gun on him. "You are in no position to be asking questions! Why are you on my ship?!?" I yelled, regaining my ferocity. He gulped.
"I was, trying to escape these lands, I had no idea you'd take it over sir! I just wanted to get away! I heard this ship was heading to a place called Estern, and I hid!" Thimble pleaded. I glared at him, well as best as any one eyed man could. "Get off." I sighed lowering my gun, and turning away. "No please! I can't go back!" I turned around. "Get off now! If you want to live!" I shouted. He visibly trembled. "I can't go back, that war, it took my whole family. I have nothing to go back to, don't you know how that feels?" Thimble replied. I paused for a moment, mentally reminding myself of my beautiful wife, and my son. I decided just this once I'd show mercy.
"Your coming with me, but as soon as we reach Estern, we go our own different paths, is that clear?" I asked, lowering my gun. Thimble nodded swiftly. "And another thing, while your aboard my ship you will do everything I say, I will be the king, and you'll be my lowly peasant." I barked. he nodded again. I motioned for him to follow me. I lead him to what a believed was a something akin to a closet on the vessel. "Open this door." I commanded. Swiftly he opened it. A broom fell out and on Thimble. "Perfect, swab the deck." I announced. He nodded without saying a word. I smiled, he was extremely obedient. I considered keeping him as a helper through my travels In Estern. I headed to the wheel and continued to sail. The sun had risen some more, and a beautiful sunrise had emerged from horizon. "Uh Commander?" Thimble squeaked from the deck below.
"What?" I sighed, missing the little bit of peace I had been given. "What's your name?" Thimble asked. "Z" I responded. "Sir, that can't be your name." Thimble responded. "Thimble's not exactly a real name either, now shut up peasant!" Thimble nodded. I continued to steer the ship. From my pocket I withdrew a map of the seas, to study. "Z?" Thimble asked from below. I groaned heavily. "What!?!?" I yelled. "Am I sweeping, or mopping?" Thimble asked timidly. "I DON'T CARE!" Z shouted. "Okay!" Thimble yelled. I continued studying the map. "Z?" Thimble asked. "WHAT!?!?" I screamed. "Since...I'm mopping, do you have any water? I found a bucket, but I have no water." Thimble ranted. "WE'RE ON A BOAT, WERE SURROUNDED BY FRICKING WATER!" "But the water is, dangerous... Could you help me?" "You know what, forget about it. Just come over here, sit in the corner and say nothing at all." I groaned. Thimble walked up to me holding his bucket and broom.
"Where do I go?" Thimble asked. I dropped the map and took the wheel. "Just....sit right there." I sighed. From the corner I saw him sit down. "Sir?" He asked. "I told you to be quiet." I ordered. He shut up. For few minutes, there was much needed peace and quiet. However that was interrupted when I heard a click coming from where Thimble was stationed. "What are you doing?" Z asked. "Playing with this gun I found." Thimble announced. Z stopped and turned around. "Wait what!?!? Why didn't you tell me you found that!?!?" I yelled. "You told me not to speak." Thimble responded. I raised my hand to speak, but was at a loss of words. "Can you teach me how to use it?" he asked. "What? No! Do I look like your father?" I shouted, beginning to lose my temper. "Sorry...I understand..." Thimble sighed, placing the gun down. After that he finally remained quiet. A few hours had passed and he was still sitting there. "Hey, Kid. You can go explore the ship if you want, tell me if you find anything of interest." I commanded. He nodded. He stood up and let me be. The kid was clearly an idiot, which surprised me, considering where we came from, idiots don't typically survive.
