(Let the Battle Begin)
The three girls stood there, shocked at what Ava had done. She couldn’t believe it either. She had been, most definitely, dreading what the man would’ve done to the three of them if he had gotten any closer. As the three of them stood there, still as statues, trying to figure out what to do next, the woman joined the man.
“Well,” She started, “you gonna do something?”
She had a mocking look in her eyes. The three girls looked at each other and said nothing. Starting to become bored and impatient, Shadow (which was the man) started to approach them once again. This time, his right hand was in a fist. He started to approach them quickly. The three girls started to back away. The man quickened his pace. The girls’ eyes widened and their hearts beat faster. The feeling got stronger. Then, everything happened at once. What happened first, was Shadow managed to trap the girls against a wall. Then, he proceeded to grab one of the girls by the wrists (it was Ava, of course, because she was the one to attack first...) and pull her out of her “group”. He then slapped her across her face. Sage closed her eyes. Sarah squeezed her fists tight. So tight, that she was starting to shake a bit. Shadow then picked Ava up by the collar of her cloak and threw her up in the air and back to her friends. She landed with a thud. No bones were broken, but it did hurt, a lot. She moaned slightly and started to get up. Then, the man walked over and kicked her back down. Sage’s hands started to tingle with tiny lightning sparks and Sarah (who had now closed her eyes, and was clenching her fists so tight that her hands were now starting to turn white and tingle) was now shaking even more. Not out of fear, but out of anger. The reason for her shaking was because she knew what would happen next if she allowed herself to try and help. So, she tried to hold back. Ava half grunted half moaned. She had slightly teary eyes. Sage too, was now starting to shake slightly. She now had tiny green and yellow sparks of lightning rippling up and down her arms. Ava got slowly got up. She winced and slowly walked back over to Sage and Sarah. She leaned against the wall. She let out a long, shaky sigh. Shadow smiled.
“S-so wh-at do we-e do no-ow?” She asked, trying to catch her breath, while also fighting back a few tears.
That was when Sarah broke. She took one look at Shadow’s smug smile and laughing eyes. She took one final breath as she let herself break free.
She lunged forward and transformed into a wolf. A big wolf with sharp fangs and charcoal gray fur. Her eyes were wild with fury. She pushed Shadow into a wall. He gave a surprised grunt. The two of them toppled to the ground. His eyes darted to Sarah. He smiled.
“Finally, a challenge.”
He pushed Sarah off of him and stood up. His right arm started to glow black, with streaks of mahogany intertwined with it. He charged at her and she dodged. While this was going on, Glympse, (who was the woman, and had been watching from afar...) now started quickly walking over to the two remaining girls.
“Nngh!” Ava started, trying to stand, “C-come on-n! L-let’s go ge-t her!”
She started to move so she could attack, but Sage stopped her.
“No, you rest. I’ll take care of her...” Sage replied as she glared back at Glympse. Glympse, who was still holding the orb in her left hand, smiled and quickened her pace. Ava looked back at Sage. She sighed.
“...Okay...” she said after a few long seconds and sat back down.
Sage turned back to Glympse. Her eyes were starting to tear up with fury. She looked down at her hands. They were glowing a not-so-faint lime green and buzzing with tiny green and yellow lightning sparks. She smiled and looked back up at Glympse. Before either one of them knew what was happening, Sage took a running start and launched right into Glympse. The two of them toppled to the ground. The orb rolled out of her hand. Glympse laughed a mocking laugh.
“Heh, okay. If that’s how it’s gonna be...” She pushed Sage off of her and got back up. Her arms now started to glow a white color that was mixed with streaks of orange and yellow. She smiled. Sage glared back at her. The two of them stood there, waiting for someone to make the first move.
While the two of them stood there, staring each other down, Ava had noticed that Glympse had dropped the orb, and was trying to get to it before either Glympse or Shadow got to it first.
She started to get up and move towards it as quickly and quietly as she could. She winced.
“G-Gotta get the orb before th-they do...” She said to herself.
Ava quickly stumbled over to where the orb was and picked it up. Glympse instantly saw. Her eyes sparkled with fear and panic.
“HEY!” She yelled, about to say more. She never got the chance because seeing her chance, Sage blasted her with her lightening “magic”. She stumbled back. This didn’t faze her, much. She remembered what she was going to say and quickly started to walk towards Ava. Now starting to freak out, Ava threw the “magic” orb to Sage.
“C-catch!” She shouted quickly. With her very fast reflexes, Sage caught the orb and saw Glympse now charging at her. Looking around at her surroundings, she saw Sarah, who was now a snake and trying to somewhat strangle Shadow, and yelled for her to “Catch!”. Sarah distractedly turned around, but instantly saw who had called for her to “Catch!”. Unfortunately, Shadow did too. He pushed right in front of her just as she was about to catch it, and caught it instead.
“Shoot! Almost had it!” Sarah said to herself.
Shadow stood there, a triumphant look in his eyes. He looked over to Glympse, who also had the same look in her eyes. The three girls started to get a sick feeling in their stomachs. Something was not right, and it all had to do with that orb.
