Shocked by what the queen had said, Kuri-mu could only say, “Y-yes, malady.” Chou, after regrouping her thoughts, questioned, “My queen, Kuri-mu can not go live on Earth! She is to be wedded in less than a few months! She can not go off looking for something mortals talk about-” But before she could continue, the queen raised her hand as a way to silence the chattering butterfly.
“I know Kuri-mu is to be married in four months. That is why I’m allowing her to prove to me that someone loves her,” the queen said, “If she succeeds, and then I will allow her not to be married at this time.” Hearing how generous the queen is being towards her, Kuri-mu couldn’t help but thank the queen over and over.
After speaking with the queen, Kuri-mu went home. In her preparing to depart for Earth. When there was a knock on her door, it was Hana. Hana is an immortal who was created from a flower in the icy lands on Earth. She has silver hair that is always cut to touch the top of her shoulders; she has light blue eyes, and always smelt of ice and snow. Hana is in charge of the library of knowledge, which is where records are kept both for the human and immortal realm. These records hold information about everyone, and everything from the past, present, and the future, which always changing. She entered the room with a stack of books from the library and three bags.
“I heard you were allowed to live on Earth, in search of love. So, I have a few things you’ll need,” Hana said as she was setting her things down on Kuri-mu’s bed, “I have several mortal girl clothes for this era, a few books on the mortal world history, and some extra maps, notes, and lists of foods, drinks, and other mortal things.” Hana had almost everything that Kuri-mu needed. Hana sat with her telling Kuri-mu what everything is, what some of the things are used for, and how to use them.
Kuri-mu would have to go to, what mortals call, school and wear a uniform when she’s there. This was all very exciting for Kuri-mu, but Chou wasn’t so thrilled with the idea for Kuri-mu living on Earth even for a short period of time. Chou was floating outside Kuri-mu’s window watching the two immortals talk about tomorrow and what it holds. After all, Kuri-mu was once human, so it would make sense that she wants to experience that part of her life once again. But, Chou is fearful of what will happen if the humans found out who she really is. An immortal being.
I’ll tell her before we leave the real, she thought, that way she can still dream about the adventure to come without worry.
Back in Kuri-mu’s room, Hana was helping Kuri-mu pack for her trip to Earth. She showed Kuri-mu how to pack a suit case, the proper way, and how to hold herself when carrying around her bags, books, and anything else she might be taking with her or using. She even told her how to introduce herself when she is around other mortals that are either friendly or not.
“We have arranged a place for you to live, for the period of time that you are on Earth,” Hana said, “You shall continue to use your immortal name. And the family you’re staying with will call you ‘granddaughter’ or something like that.”
“A granddaughter, Hana,” Kuri-mu echoed, “does that mean I’ll be staying with an older pair of humans?”
With that in her mind, Kuri-mu was even more excited about her trip, meaning Chou was even more worried. Kuri-mu, still thing about her tip was unable to do anything else besides pack and prepare for her departure. She didn’t try to eat anything, let alone try and get some sleep for that matter.
The next morning, Kuri-mu headed for the Great Hall with all of her bags that she will need. Inside the castle, she made her way to the Great Hall; from there she will be sent straight to her new human home on Earth to begin her quest to find love. While walking through the garden to the castle, Chou is fluttering around trying to find a good way of telling Kuri-mu to keep her true identity a secret from all of the mortals. Chou was thinking so hard that she began to get very dizzy and tired.
In the Great Hall, there was a great feast and lots of dancing. Every immortal in the real were there with small gifts to give to Kuri-mu, one was talent at sports, another was to be a great artist, but one was the best over all, it was to give her the chance to find the right guy on her third day on Earth, that is if it works or not. Everyone was wishing her a safe trip and hopes that she finds love, but those who believed that she couldn’t do it simply wished her happiness in her marriage.
During the celebration, the queen stood up from her throne and everyone turned to her. All the musicians stopped playing, the cooks can out of the kitchen, the couples dancing turned to her. Even the crowd around Kuri-mu stopped talking and turned to the queen.
Then in her clam and proud voice and her arms rose, the queen said, “In honor of our Kuri-mu’s wish, a celebration is done. Our dear Kuri-mu will be sent to Earth in search of love among the mortals,” then everyone turned to Kuri-mu and applauded her.
“But!” the queen continued, “Kuri-mu, if you are unable to find that mortal who can love you and only you, then your marriage will be renounce. But if it is not real love and your secret is revealed to more than two mortals who you can trust with all of your heart, then your mission will be terminated and you shall be brought back immediately. And you will no longer be allowed to go to Earth. Do you understand,” the queen asked her with a stern tone.
Kuri-mu was put on the spot. As she looked around the room at all of the serious faces of the gathering of the immortals. The same ones, who were once so cheerful, became as cold as ice to her. Then looking back up at the queen, who was also very cold to the gaze, began to speak.
“Milady…I understand what I must do,” She said with a small bow, and with that she was sent to her new home to meet her new family of mortals.
Making sure her ears were out if sight, Kuri-mu slowly made her way to the front door of the house, and the beginning of her new life as a mortal.
