Welcome back class. Get comfortable for today’s lesson, because it’s a long one. I looked at your votes from last class and you all wanted to learn about The Switch, so I’ll explain.  

The year is 2955, Humans are excited for the year to become 3000. But a problem arises. Earth is running low on some important resources. So the world committee meets and comes out split. Around half want to find a new planet to inhabit, while the others want to make Earth stronger. They agree on a thought to be great system, only try to colonize planets if the goldilocks conditions are present. After searching with their telescope capable of the deepest viewing, they find a planet. This was the first planet they found with the conditions so they sent a message that was able to reach the planet in about a year and 6 months. No message is sent back after waiting for 30 years. The humans create a ship named SpaceboundR. At the year 2989 the ship is complete with a population sustainably of 10000. This was meant to be the only trip going to the planet, so there needed to be enough humans to colonize. 

Now it’s 2990. Upon reaching the planet something wasn’t right. Earth stopped getting messages from SpaceboundR. A distress call is picked up from the planet. The call was something like this.

“Hello Earth. We reached the planet to colonize. A ship soon landed next to us, but not an Earth ship. We sent a small team to check it out and they didn’t return. We fired at the ship but some force field was blocking us from hitting it. The foreign ship then started playing a sound like Drilarly on repeat. Right now I’m hiding on the SpaceboundR. Some talk that the foreign ship has guns pointed at us spreading around.”

After that call they got the automated message that SpaceboundR was destroyed. Humans were devastated and worked on defenses in case Earth was attacked. It was. On the year 2999, a city named Tokyo was hit by a blast from somewhere in deep space, the blast vaporizing the city. Multiple  versions of SpaceboundR was made and the population could just barley fit on the in total 412 new ships. Humans left Earth, in the year 3000, giving it to the Drilarly. 

They traveled an estimated 14000 light years away and meet multiple new species of aliens. But after a tough debate in committee, it was decided to return to Earth. At this point the humans were 2000 years out. Upon arriving back to Earth around the year 7000, they found that the Drilarly were gone and the land had been terraformed. Most cities were also turned to ash. It seems that the Drilarly vanished, due to no signs of a large fight, or packing up to leave, were found. But there was one other big thing. It had seemed that what was once thought to be called Asia and Europe, were gone, as if it vanished too. All the ships re-emerged through the atmosphere around a city in the north continent. This became Chilogari, where you kids are at right now. Territory was divided up among the 3 factions after that. 

The name The Switch was thought up because of how the inhabitants of Earth, the Humans, switched to the Drilarly. The year is only 7030, so there is till many things to learn about what happened when we were gone.
