Kids Aren't Heroes

Pg.3

Jan 31, 2019

He was greeted by his friends when he walked through the gates. “Hey lil’ buddy. Happy B-day dude.” Peter said as he ruffled the younger boys hair. He swatted at his hand. Oliver came from behind with their other friends. “Oh yeah, I totally forgot it was you B-day. Happy birthday kid.” He smiled lightly and patted the 9 year old on the back. The three girls from behind Oliver shoved him out of the way. “Aw, our little boy is growing.” Cherry said. “They grow up so fast.” Konna joked around. Alice just smiled and hugged the small boy. “Happy birthday Maroon.” His smile widened and he blushed from all the attention by his friends. “Seriously guys, thanks you’re all so awesome.” He said with sincerity. “Anything for the boy genius.” Peter said jokingly. “I’m not a genius!” He said flustered. “Right, cuz you’re only 9 and already in the 7th grade. Nothing smart about that right?” Konna said. Maroon went a dark shade of red and just stuck his tongue out at them.

As soon as class started the boy zoned out not wanting to pay attention in class was normal for him. He may have been a genius but his behavior says otherwise. He was ONLY 9 so that didn’t mean he was going to not be an annoyance to his classmates and teachers. He had a fun time just messing with others. And being utterly smart meant he could always come up with new ideas to annoy the crap out of them. He wasn’t in the mood today only wondering why the school day had to be so long. All he wanted to do was go home and spend the day with his mom. She was amazing even if she wasn’t his birth mother. That never mattered to him. She took care of him she loved him and she deserved that love back. Blood or not she needed him and he needed her.
