“Rise and shine bitch,” Heidi said as she ripped my precious covers off of my body. “It’s time for church.”
“What the hel-” I’m cut off by her stuffing a bagel into my mouth.
“Don’t curse it’s God’s day,” she scolds me as she flings open my closet doors.
“You just did.”
“Shit you’re right,” she did the sign of the cross and went back to flipping through my clothes, “Do you own any non-sweatshirts? I mean for Go-... goodness sake.”
“Top right drawer,” I mumble.
She tosses a blue tank top and a grey cardigan at me, “Get dressed, we’re going to church.”
She leaves the room before I can say anything else.
When we get back to the apartment Hannah is waiting for us on the couch.
“Hey, what’s up?” I greet her as Heidi goes to our room.
“Heidi, you’re going to want to hear this,” she calls. “He’s pressing charges.”
“What? Who? What?” I sputter.
“The cops came today and apparently Kevin thinks we stole something from him.”
“Something that didn't belong to him in the first place,” Heidi grumbles.
“Still, the school won’t be happy to hear about this,” Hannah crosses her arms and shifts her focus to the ground. “Our parents won’t be happy about this either.”
“Shit, I didn’t think about that,” I collapse onto the couch next to her.
“I don’t think we thought about any of this,” Hannah sighs and sinks further into the couch.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll get him to drop the charges,” Heidi says with confidence.
“By what? Threatening him? Because that will go so much better this time,” I grumble.
“Hey, He threatened me,” Heidi snaps back.
“Whatever,” I mumble as, “Does he even have any proof?”
“They didn’t say.” Hannah looks between us.
“We should find out before you go threatening him because then he’ll have proof,” I glance at Heidi. She plops down on the couch next to me grabbing her knee, and sighs, “I know, I’m just worried.”
“I know. Me too,” I put my arms around both of them, “We’ll get through this, together.”
“Right,” Hannah grabs mine and Heidi’s hands. “ Together.”
Heidi smiles, “Together.”
