That’s when the knob began turning from the outside.

A young man entered the room. His long black hair was pulled back in a ponytail and his caramel skin looked smooth. He had on a white button down shirt with black pants and black shoes. He wore a smile on his face that made his dark eyes crinkle ever so slightly. “How are you feeling, I brought you some water” he said, holding up a bottle. He had a deep voice with a hispanic accent. I was too nervous to speak. I stared at him like a deer in headlights. “ Listen, I know you might be nervous but just tru~”

“Who are you?” I cut him off. Gaining some confidence for once. “Where am I? I want to go home”. Damn I really sounded like a whiny toddler, but how could you blame me. I was drugged, hit in the head, and kidnapped wouldn’t anyone act like this? “I can’t tell you my name just, yet” his smile faltering “nor where we are”. He extended a hand containing a white pill. “Here, it’s for your headache”.

“I don’t want it”, I said a little too forcefully. “Why should I trust you at all.”

“I only want the best for you” he reassured. That’s when fear was replaced with anger. “ Really?!” I shouted. “Well please, tell me if you want the best for me why hurt me! You took me away from my family and friends; hell, you won’t even tell me your damn na-”

*slap*

He struck me right across the face. Shit! My hand instinctively moved to my cheek. It felt swollen. I immediately regretted my outburst. As he took a step towards me, I shuddered. He violently grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him. He tilted my chin up so I’d be forced to look at him. “Listen. I suggest you listen to me, or I WILL punish you severely. Now take the damn pill before I really lose my patience.” I did as he told me too, not wanting to anger him any more. With me still in his arms, he grazed my bottom lip with his thumb. His eyes looked at me so lustfully as if he didn’t just threaten me. How could someone be so intimidating and scary one second; but kind and gentle the other. He must really be crazy. I could feel my face heating up from the embarrassment and from the blood rushing my cheek. He then leaned over and as I squeezed my eyes shut, he whispered in my ear. “As long as you do what I say when I say it, we won’t have any problems. Ok?” I nodded. He placed a kiss on my cheek where he had slapped me and left. The locked clicked seconds after it closed. I simply stood in the middle of the room for a few moments. Shocked by how 180 degrees his personality went in a matter of seconds. My cheek began to burn and I felt something wet fall down it. A tear. I had begun to cry. I didn’t even realize it. I dropped to the floor and pulled my knees to my chest in a fetal position. Why can’t I be stronger? I asked myself. If I was I could’ve at least tried to escape when he was leaving. “I want to go home” I said out loud through tears. I must’ve cried myself to sleep because next thing I knew I was being lifted from the ground and placed in bed.
