Ugh! Hangover!!!
The light is blinding me, shining right in my face. Oww, who the fuck left the blinds open? Fuck them. Ugh. I whimper and turn away from the light. I come face to face with Carmen. She is staring at me.
“Eep!” I yelp and fall out of the bed.
“Sorry, I’m sorry I didn’t know if you were awake yet.” She quickly sat.
“Carmen!? The fuck! Where the fuck am I? Why the fuck are we in bed together?! The fuck are you doing here?” I grabbed my head and groaned.
“Okay take it slow. We didn’t um, do anything. I found you plastered and knew I couldn’t just leave you there. I didn’t know where you lived so I brought you with me. I didn’t do anything to you I swear! You made me lay with you.”
God, I feel like I’m going to be sick. I looked around and spot the bathroom and run over to it. Despite my need to vomit, nothing comes out I just dry heave. She came to comfort me and I jerked away from her touch. She kept her hands to herself after that.
“Here.” She handed me some water and aspirins.
“Fuck where the fuck am I? What the fuck happened last night?”
She sighed and leaned against the door frame. That is a familiar sight. I sighed.
“You save me again?” I looked up from the floor at her.
“Yeah, obviously. Who else is going to save you from yourself.” She snapped at me.
I sighed.
I was one of those girls who went wild in college. I was finally away from my nun mom and had all the freedom in the world. It went to my head. You could find me at every party, bar, club, and anywhere there was alcohol. Carmen being my roommate became my permanent savior. She was always picking me up off someone’s floor and dragging me home.
Then just like she is doing now, she would stand over me and watch me throw up all of my life. Sherry was my protector, but she can’t handle me when I get like I did last night. She doesn’t drink. Her dad is an alcoholic. So when Sherry wouldn’t protect me, Carmen had to come save me.
She did it so much I took advantage of her. Then she snapped. The last time she saved me, she came to pick me up from a party, but instead of saving me, she took advantage of me. The only reason why she kept saving me, to begin with, was because she loved me.
That was a horrible night. Sherry knew Carmen was getting tired of it, so that night Sherry came to save me, but Carmen beat her there. she found me crying and Carmen forcing herself on me. She as Sherry likes to call it, released her inner ghetto and beat Carmen’s ass, right there at the party. Things were never the same between the three of us. Sherry forced me to stop drinking, Carmen and I were roommate’s, so I still had to see her every day, but we were so awkward around each other.
Half a year after that, I moved out and never saw Carmen again. I purposely avoided her. I guess part of it is my fault, that night I egged her on, but after she started kissing me, I chickened out and changed my mind. She didn’t want to stop. I had never seen that dark side of her before or since. She is always so kind, she always told me she was a bully, but for as long as I knew her she was as sweet as could be.
“Fuck.” I groaned and stood up, using the wall to steady myself.
“I thought you sobered up?” she said.
She was referring to me swearing off booze for good. And I did. Until I became a teacher and met E.J who likes to drink. Now with all this Maddison shit, I guess old habits die hard.
“I did, until recently.”
She sighed and shook her head at me. Pursuing her lips. Another familiar sight.
“There is a spare toothbrush here, use it, then come lay back down. I’ll order room service.” She walked out.
I washed the smeared make-up off my face and brushed my teeth. Running my fingers through my hair a few times before walking back out. She had the curtains closed now. I laid back on the bed, she was sitting in the chair, placing her order.
She looked up from her computer to me, I sighed.
“Come here.” I held out my arms.
“No thank you, I think I learned my lesson.” She looked back at her computer.
“Come here ass.” I pouted.
“Nope.”
“I haven’t seen you in years, come here or I’m going over there.”
She sighed and walked over to me. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her down to the bed with me.
“I’m sorry I freaked on you. And thank you for saving me again.”
She shifted in my arms uncomfortably.
“Also I’m sorry for being a bitch to you all those years ago. That was pretty shitty of me.” I said.
“I’m sorry too, for everything. I never wanted to hurt you.” She turned to face me, tears in her eyes.
“I know, I was a stupid kid then. I’m different now. I shouldn’t have taken you for granted.” I pushed some of her hair out face.
“That doesn’t excuse what I did. I’m sorry, god, I never thought I’d ever get to tell you that.” Her tears slipped out.
“Hey that was years ago, can we just agree that we are different now and move on?”
She nodded and smiled.
“I wasn’t too embarrassing last night was I?” I asked.
“Just a little, but nothing I couldn’t handle. You big fat lesbo.” She teased.
“Ugh, please tell me I didn’t say that.”
“You screamed it out of my car window.”
“Kill me now.” I ran my hands down my face.
She giggled then she wrapped her arms around me, I tensed up.
“Is this okay, I’m sorry.” She quickly pulled back.
“No, it’s okay. Sorry just reflex.” I grabbed her arms and put them back. She blushed.
“So you really a lesbian now?” she asked.
“More like Bi-sexual. I still love a big, stiff, emm---” she laughed and pushed me away.
“What just being honest, but I may have recently acquired a taste for some girl cookies.”
“Really? Why? That is so random.”
“It’s a long, awful story. Which I don’t want to talk about. Hints why I was drunk off my ass.”
“I see. Who is she?”
I eyed her.
“Sorry, just curious, gah.” She frowned.
“It doesn’t matter who she is, because we can’t be together for reasons. Which just leaves me sexually frustrated and stressed out.”
“I can tell, you told me to fuck you more times than I can count last night.”
“Ugh! That’s it time to crawl into a hole and die.”
She giggled.
There was a knock at the door. Room service.
She got up and answered it. She grabbed the food and placed it on the small table in the room. It was a circle and only had two chairs.
“Come on.” She urged me.
I got up and saw she got me my favorite, French toast.
“Asshole, you know how I feel about carbs.” I pouted.
“I also know how you feel about French toast.” She smirked.
I sighed and looked to her food, she still likes her fancy omelets I see. She poured me some orange juice and handed me the syrup, which was warm. I licked my lips. Then I dug in. God, I'm starving, did I eat yesterday? Can’t remember.
“So, why you in town?” I asked.
“I am meeting with a team of writers. My show got picked up. We agreed to meet in the middle instead of me flying all the way to California. Though if all goes well, I might move there permanently.”
“Oh my god! That’s awesome. Lucky! What I would do to move to Cali.” I pouted.
“Speaking of, I thought that was the plan, why you still here?”
“My fucking nun mom. Don’t laugh, but I’m a high school teacher.”
She laughed.
“Asshole.” I threw my napkin at her.
“You a teacher, oh my god, that’s hilarious. Never ever did I see you becoming a teacher, a porn star maybe, but not a teacher.”
“Hey! Wait, how much do porn stars make?”
She laughed and threw my napkin back at me.
“It is a setback, but I’m not giving up. I have faith that I can land a gig.”
“Speaking of, aren’t you supposed to be teaching a class right now?”
“Meh, I called in for the rest of the week.” I shrugged.
She shook her head, a smile on her lips.
“I know why I was at a bar on a Tuesday, but why were you?” I raised my eyebrow.
“What, I wanted to see if I could get lucky. It always worked for you in college.” She shrugged.
“Well, instead you reeled in a hot mess, my bad. I totally cocked blocked you, or Vag blocked in your case.”
“Meh, you’re better than a stranger I guess.”
“You guess, asshole.” I kicked her leg under the table.
She giggled.
“So you want me to drive you home?” she asked once we were done.
“What time is it?” I asked.
“9:33 am”
“Ugh, not yet if you don’t mind. E.J might be lurking.”
“E.J?”
“I broke up with him last night, he also works at the school. His classes don’t start until 10.”
“Oh, well I don’t have anything to do all day. My meeting is tomorrow.” She plopped on the bed.
“So it’s okay then?” I asked.
“Yes.” She rolled her eyes.
I crawled in next to her and snuggled up.
“You smell good,” I said.
“You told me that last night as well.” She giggled.
“Well, it’s true.”
I rested my head on her chest. I could hear how fast her heart is beating. Weird, even after all this time she still has a thing for me. Why? Any normal person would have moved on by now. Hmm… but she is hot.
We laid in silence for a second. She moved to turn the tv on, I stopped her. She eyed me. I just laid back down.
“Scar?”
“Yeah?”
“Can I kiss you?”
