"People are usually as happy as they think"
-Abraham Lincoln
Happiness, in its most basic terms, is the sudden and rapid feeling of euphoria, caused by an increase of dopamine on the brain, which commonly lasts between ten seconds and a lifetime . We do not mean this with a laugh or just smiling. 'feeling happy', as it's called, is a sensation when something produces moderate pleasure and we feel exalted or happy about it. Leaving aside the possible thousands of reasons that a person could have to 'feel happy', here is a summary of how one should 'be happy' in the right way.
The process could be divided into three simple steps:
first: To begin with, imagination must be used. This device that helps us visualize objects and situations in our mind can be used to try to feel the feeling of happiness. After verifying that your imagination is functioning correctly, what should be done next is to 'imagine' some moment in which you can see yourself doing what you are most passionate about. It can be as simple as sleeping or something more complex like being on a roller coaster. If you can not find a memory that you could call happy, just remember the slight fact that nothing we do in our miserable lives matters in the great vast emptiness of the universe.
second: When you already have a clear image of that moment, you should try to feel again what you felt in those seconds that the memory lasted. If you are doing this correctly you should be feeling within yourself a sudden discharge of dopamine in your brain and a feeling of euphoria bursting from inside of you.
third: What is done next is with the muscles that control your lips, raise the edges of your lips to form the shape of a bow or a half moon with them. This is called a smile and is commonly accepted as a symptom of happiness. Even if you feel too 'happy' to just smile, you can start laughing. Laughing, another symptom of happiness, is when an intermittent noise produced by the vocal cords that should sound like ha ha ha let out spasmodically from your mouth. Try to keep it light and not attract the attention of others (since they may misinterpret it and believe that you suffer from some form of dementia).
When you finish 'being happy' remember to return everything to its original state. But if you pity not 'being happy', then you don't have to stop the process. Here I leave some councils that can be used if you want to keep 'being happy'. Honestly, the most complicated thing of 'being happy' is to continue feeling like it despite the overwhelming anxiety that a person might suffers when faced with his senseless existence. With the growing number of people with clinical depression, it's important to know different ways to prevent happiness from disappearing. So, some ways to continue with your state of happiness indefinitely are:
first: Smile more. What I mean by this is through doing the movement of the lips described in step three you could generate a dopamine reaction in your brain to make you feel happy. The way to do this is every day in the morning before bathing, look at yourself in the mirror and trying smile to yourself, even if you can not find a good reason to do it. Normally it should be maintained until it starts working (between one minute and forever). In case of not achieving it or that your reflection does not decide to cooperate in this exercise, please call your nearest psychologist.
second: Laugh more. What you should do is when you are in the middle of a conversation, do what is described in the second part of step three. After each phrase you say, you should laugh softly, enough so that you can hear yourself laughing even if the phrase said could not be considered a joke. If doing so fails to make you feel happy, try increasing the volume and intensity of the laughter, although be careful to get to the point where people around you begin to feel uncomfortable with your presence or begin to slowly whisper about you.
third: Eliminate the bad influences of your life. Sometimes what prevents us from reaching a state of perpetual happiness are the many things that influence us in our daily life. Most of these influences come from people and from the situations in which we are surrounded. Several of them can help us and sustain us in our worst moments, but others are completely the opposite. They are people whose influence is toxic and only prevent reaching that desired happiness. What you should do when confronted with these types of people or situations is simply not to get involved with them. But if it is impossible not to meet those people should take extreme measures to minimize any possible influence. From restraining orders to first degree homicide, you must do what is necessary to get them away from you. (editor's note: the publisher and his team do not support these ideas proposed by the author to eliminate those people that the reader considers of toxic influence and his vision does not correspond to the opinion of the publisher or anyone besides the author)
fourth: Take antidepressants. Although this advice is not so friendly with the idea of solutions that can be done at home, even so, it is a highly recommended idea to use this type of pharmacists to help solve this type of problem. You can use medicines that can be found in any pharmacy such as sertraline or alcohol, although I, based on my experiences, would recommend other medications such as heroin and hard sex. It may not be the most convenient or cheap in what comes to solutions, but it has a high level of performance. (editor's note: neither the publisher nor the employees in it agree with the use of illegal drugs or alcoholism in general, only the author is responsible for such comments and their consequences)
fifth: Commit suicide. Attention: this advice should only be used when the rest have already been tested and have failed. It might seem absurd and unimaginable to do what is proposed in this part, but when you think about it, the best solution for when you can not 'be happy' would not be at least to suffer. So, after checking several times that you and the world around you are incompatible and you will never become anything in this life - not even happy - you should leave everything aside and end your suffering. It can be through hanging or cutting the veins, although we recommend the death by overdose or firearm.
