Owen~ June 10, Sunday
I don't know if I should be feeling embarrasses or grateful to Roman right now. I'm thankful he didn't let Kane or his guard dog attack me, but I'm so embarrassed by that way I balled my eyes out like a child in Romans arms.
As mortifying as it was, I have to say it is incredibly comforting being held like this… it's warm too…
I don't remember the last time anyone held me in a way that wasn't meant to cause pain. It's… nice.
Every human I had met until now were monsters, but Roman is different. There's something calming about him - in his smell, his voice, his presence.
What the hell am I saying?
I was drawn out of my weird thoughts as Roman let out a soft sigh and shifted his hand in my hair. I should get up before Kane gets any more annoyed but… I don't want to. I want to keep my eyes closed and enjoy the gentle way Roman combs his fingers through my hair and the soothing way he rubs my back. It's peaceful.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Roman's voice was low and quiet like he didn't want to spook me. I didn't need to think to know what he meant. I'd rather forget the nightmare, so I shook my head. Neither of us said anything else.
We stayed silent for a few minutes until a sharp "ow!" from the other room made us both jump.
Roman let out another sigh before saying, "Are you okay now?" He asked softly.
I debated how to answer for a moment and eventually nodded.
"I better go check on them then." Roman started to shift so I sat up and scooted away so he could get up. I hugged my knees to my chest and kept my gaze on the floor. I watched Roman get to his knees from the corner of my eye, expecting him to just leave but instead he grabbed my face and made me look at him. My gaze fell on the four long scratches across the side of his face. I felt an odd twist in my stomach seeing the beads of blood that had run down his cheek to his jaw and on down his neck till it stained the collar of his dark blue T-shirt.
"Owen," Roman called my attention to his eyes. "Don't beat yourself up over this. It was an accident. It was not your fault." Roman spoke softly but firmly. "I know it probably looks really bad, but I'll be just fine. Okay?" His green eyes seemed to be searching mine for a sign that I understood. I nodded my head slightly. Roman nodded his once, "Good" He said before standing up. "You can stay here if you want while I go check on them."
I nodded my head slightly again and watched him as he closed the door behind him. Once he was gone, I reached over and pulled the blanket off the bed. Scooting back over the corner, I laid down and cocooned myself in the heavy fabric. I didn't want to get on the bed again. It felt to open, to exposed. It was safer to keep your back to as many walls as possible, lessened the available directions of an attack.

Roman~
I closed the bedroom door softly as I could before turning down the hall. I stepped into the bathroom on the way and grabbed my first aid kit then went to the kitchen.
"Ow! Kane, fuck!" I heard Ben spit as I turned the corner.
The pair were standing by the sink, Ben had his head tilted back while Kane was trying to press a dark green dish towel to his nose.
"Don't press so hard!" Ben snapped.
"We got to stop the bleeding," Kane told him as he tried to keep the man's head in place.
I shook my head that the two of them and walked over to the table. Setting my first aid kit down, I said, "let me look at it," making both of them turn to me.
I pulled out a chair and tapped the top of it. "Sit down," I instructed. Ben gave me an apprehensive look before casting a glance at Kane who nodded his head to the chair.
"Fine," Ben let of a sigh as he came over and sat down. I moved around in front of him and took the dish towel away. I set it down without looking away from his bloody nose. Just looking at it I could guess that it was probably broken from the lump protruding at the bridge of his nose. I gently touched my fingers to it causing Ben to hiss in pain. I straightened up and reached for my first aid kit.
"Well, your nose is definitely broken," I told him plainly.
"Tell me something I don't know," Ben retorted. "Just don't touch it," Ben told me as I tried to use a sterile pad to wipe away the blood on his upper lip. "It will heal on its own."
The fact that he was not human popped into my mind and curiosity filled me. "How long would it take? To heal I mean."
Ben shrugged, "I'll be fine in a week." He said.
Fascinating.
"At least let me help clean up all the blood?" I offered.
Ben shook his head. "No thanks. I can do it my self as I already told Kane. It's not the first time I've had my nose broken, and it probably won't be the last." He explained as he got to his feet. I stepped back out of his way and watched him turn toward the hallway. "Just let me use your bathroom." He said.
"Just the bathroom. Stay away from Owen you hear? Or next time you might lose a tooth." I warned.
Ben waved his hand at me. " I believe it. You're a lot stronger then you look." He praised as he disappeared from sight.
One down, one to go, I thought as I turned around to look at Kane. He was leaned back against the counter in front of the sink his arms crossed and his gaze focused on the floor, but he quickly pushed off from it and came over to me. With his gaze still on the floor, He grabbed my shoulders and guided me back until I was forced to sit down in the chair Ben had sat in. I didn't fight him. He grabbed a gauze pad and the peroxide. He poured a little onto the pad and started to dab at the cuts on my face. I held my breath to keep from making any noise. Neither of us said anything for a little bit. Since it didn't seem like he planned to say anything, I did.
"He was dreaming," I started. I kept talking as Kane cleaned. "He was screaming in his sleep, begging someone to stop hurting him. I tried to wake him up, but that made it worse. When he opened his eyes, I could tell that he didn't see me. All he saw was someone holding him down, and he reacted." Kane just nodded. "He did nothing wrong." I insisted.
Kane finally looked me in the eye, "I know." He returned his gaze to what he was doing but continued to speak. "I'm not mad. I understand the situation now. When Ben called he made it seem like everything was ten times worse, then it was, and I freaked, but when I got here, and I realized that it wasn't as bad Ben made it seem I could smell the fear rolling of Owen in waves and I knew part of it was my fault. I'm sorry I overreacted." He finished.
When he was done, I had a small smile on my face. "Good, but I'm not you should be apologizing to," I told him.
Kane sighed. "I know. I will after he's had some time to calm down." We fell into silence again for a few minutes while Kane patched me up. He was done he paused and chewed his bottom lip. "Is he okay?" He asked.
"Physically, yes. Mentally and emotionally, not so much but I think he will be okay with time."
Kane nodded. "Okay. Now," He said as he took a deep breath. I raise a brow at him. "Don't freak out, okay?" That made me wary and confused. Before I could ask him what he was planning, He grabbed my head and leaned in.
My eyes bulged out of their sockets as I felt his warm, wet tongue swipe across my cheek, coating the scratch under my eye in saliva. "Kane! What the hell?!" I grabbed at his arms and tried to push him away. My efforts were useless. Kane licked my face a few more times before letting go and jumping back before I could get a good hit on him. I was on my feet in a split second and slapping at his arm. "What the hell was that?!" I yelled. Kane raises his arms to shield himself from my attacks. When I stopped, he peeked at me with a grin on his face.
"I'm just helping you heal faster," he laughed.
"No, you're not! You do realize that the mouth is the most germ-infested part of your body, right?" I fumed.
Kane chuckled, "I have magical spit." He said like it wasn't the most absurd thing he had ever said.
"What?" I did not find this funny. I wiped my face with the length of my arm as I glared at him.
"Seriously, Lycan saliva has healing properties. It will help your scratches heal father. I swear." He insisted.
Of course, he has magical healing spit. He's a werewolf- I mean lycan. Next thing you know he's going to be telling vampire and unicorns are real. At this point, I'll probably believe anything he says.
"Whatever," I huff. I sit back down and grabbed a large bandage and hand it to Kane. "Finish what you started," I told him.
