In the next room, Lexy heard Madam Vile say, ”Come along Michal.”
“No,” Michal said.
“ I said COME.” Then there a soft swishing and then it was silent. Lexy crept out of bed and peeked out her door. She saw the edge of Madam Vile’s cloak. Lexy followed the cloak down a flight of stairs. Then, at the bottom of the stairwell, a big oak door slammed in her face.
“Ah!” Lexy exclaimed as she stopped suddenly. She sat down outside the door, waiting for someone to come out.
Then she heard a muffled noise. “ Be a good boy and hand over the kingdom.”
“Never.” This voice she recognized. It was Michal! But what was he doing disobeying Madam Vile? Then there was a noise that struck fear into her heart; it was a bone-chilling scream.
Lexy woke up screaming. Then she realized that she was in the middle of class. “Lexy, are you alright?” Mrs.Coby asked.
“ Yes, I’m fine. Thanks for asking.”
“Ok, so answer my question please.”
“What question?”
Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring
Slowly and methodically Lexy packed up. “Bye sis,” Raven said giving her a fake smile. Lexy sighed, “How bad can this day get?” she thought.
“‘Ello Lexy.”
“No disembodied voices, I hate those,” Lexy said as she turned around. “Oh, it’s you. Hi, Christine.”
“Hi, how are you?”
“ Fine, why are you already packed?” Lexy asked.
“Because, “Christine said.
“Because why?” Lexy asked giggling.
“Because you are a slowpoke,” Christine said.
“Hey,” Lexy said laughing.
“So,” Christine started, ”do you want to come to my house?”
“I’ll have to ask Madam Evil.”
“ So, is that a no?”
“Or I could not tell her.”
“Fine by me. Okay then. Let's go. And get packed.”
“I am packed.”
Christine raised her eyebrow, ”Ok then slowpoke. RACE YOU!”
“ You are so on,” Lexy yelled jumping up.
Meanwhile, at Madam Vile’s castle.
“Where is that ungrateful girl?!?” Madam Vile yelled.“ She was supposed to come home an hour ago!”
“I’m sorry, Mother,” Raven said quietly.
“You,” Madam Vile said, turning on her only daughter “were supposed to keep an eye on her.”
“I’m really sorry, Mother.”
“Don’t say sorry. I should've never trusted you,” Madam Vile said, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
“But…”Raven started.
“This conversation is over,” Madam Vile said storming off.
At Christine’s house. “I so won,” Christine said with her mouth full of ice cream.
“BARF. Talk with your mouth closed please,” Lexy gagged.
Gulp! “Fine is that better, Lexy?”
“When we are out of school, call me Purple Witch. And yes, that is fine.”
“Purple Witch? No way,” Christine giggled.
“Do it. I called you a Fairy Mutant Which Hybrid thing all summer, remember?”
“Yeah, I remember. So what?” Christine said, licking the
ice cream off her spoon.
“So if you don’t do it, I won’t be your friend anymore,”
“You won’t dare,” Christine said in a scared voice.
“I would to,” Lexy said tauntingly.
“Alright, Purple Witch,” Christine said mockingly.
Though she looked a little relieved.
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman…
“That’s your ringtone? Purple Witch really,” Christine said laughing, the scared look gone.
“I thought that I turned the ringer off,” Lexy mumbled.
“So did I,” Christine said.
“You did what?” Lexy asked, startled.
“I also thought that you had turned your ringer off,” Christine said, blinking innocently. Lexy was staring hard at her.
“So you want me to call you Purple Witch because you
have purple hair right?” Christine said, suddenly changing the subject.
“Yeah,” Lexy said, shaking herself out of her daze. “Hey, how did you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
“Uhh……………”
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman…
“There it goes again. Ahh, it is Madam Evil,” Lexy said
bowing royally.
“Why do you call your mom Evil?”
“Because she is my adoptive mother and she is evil.” Lexy shrugged as she ignored Madam Vile again. “Well I should go. See you tomorrow.”
“Ok, bye then.”
