When Dan regained consciousness the first thing he noticed was that the tracker clinked like crazy and when opened his eyes, he could see a group of children staring at him as they shared a series of strange sounds between them.
Surprised, Dan sat very quickly, scaring all the children, except the one he had just saved, the others hid in the bushes. The young man and the little girl looked at each other for a moment and a strange gleam in her golden eyes hypnotized him, until the sound of the tracker brought him back. Dan took the device out of the pocket and noticed that it marked directly to her.
–Who are you? –He wondered.
She tilted her head as if analyzing it.
–Ma'p? –He got a little frustrated when noticed that they didn’t speak the same language, when the girl opened her mouth again–. You? –Daniel looked at her again–. I am Msi’.
–Mmsi?
The girl giggled.
–Who are you?
–Daniel, Daniel Landon.
–Daniel Landon –She said as she placed a hand on his chest–. Thank you.
Then, the little girl turned to her friends and shouted some unintelligible things to Dan, all the boys came out laughing and surrounded the guy who was rising slowly, Msi’ took him by the hand and all together began to walk.
The boys led him along a quiet path, between games, laughter and shouts. Daniel couldn’t look away from them, all dressed with what seemed like old fabrics, the children walked with a small piece of clothing only on their hips and the girls wore something similar to a dress. They all looked like each other but at the same time they were different. Msi’ didn’t let go off his hand not even once until they came to a ground clean of plants, with houses made of branches and dry leaves. There were many people in the place, between adults and children, some were dressed with more clothes, others with less and others were naked, some were adorned with feathers or bracelets and some were painted on the arms, legs or face.
Immediately the boys ran with their parents, the girl left him right in the middle, before the stunned eyes of everybody, to run alongside her mother, a woman sitting weaving a basket, with long hair loose in the wind and a clear pregnancy, who was looking at him with wide eyes.
Msi’ approached her and began to speak as loudly as her throat let her, making gestures in which Dan could recognize what had happened one moment ago. The looks of the people in the place went and came from her to him alternating the surprise with the admiration. Finally she seemed to end among the astonishment of those present who rose up chattering, the girl came back and led him running to the biggest hut, followed by everyone, each person entered the place and look for a corner where to sit, while Msi’ and Dan were accommodated just in front of a couple of old men.
Despite the murmur of all, the little girl repeated her performance in front of the two men who looked at each other in amazement, suddenly they began to talk among themselves, from one moment to another there was a whole discussion between the people of the town, some sounded annoyed and others very happy. Then one of the elders got up, everyone got silent and listened to him. He turned to Dan.
–'kuit ñieet ma'p míl u'
The young man looked at him completely confused.
–He ask, what are you doing here? –Msi’ translated for him.
–Oh, yes, I, I was sent from far from here, to seek and protect something important.
As Dan spoke the girl translated back and forth.
–Where do you come from, and what's so important?
–I come from another planet from beyond the sky –He pointed upward, causing everyone to turn to the ceiling–. They sent me to seek a treasure of my people, the light of life, is a bright sphere, like a star.
Everyone was surprised at his statement, the elders exchanged a few words and smiled at him.
–Mí Kumeeyo –The man said to all those present–. Kuiil ujaa maat 'mskuaay Msi'
Everyone was glad to hear it, so much that they laughed, shouted slightly and even hugged each other.
–What happened?
–The chief Tajak tay said you came to protect me.
–You?
She nodded and smiled at him. Daniel had just understood that, for the locals, Msi’ was what he was looking for, that the fact that she understood him wasn’t fortuitous and that those golden eyes had a reason. The light was the girl.
