•Raine•
Blue light shined on our eyes as we looked upon Kellin. There's a freaky hologram thing coming out of his palms. It had some scribblings and shit on it. It looks like a computer screen when you're reading documents on it. Awesome.
*Whoa. Wish I had one of those.*
"What does it do?" Chase asked.
"Well, you are looking at the Essence of LUSCRA's former Bookmaster, Scola." Sol said.
Sol approached Kellin.
"Her Essence was Archive. It allowed her to store and project basically anything that she documents in her travels." Sol said.
He grabbed the one glowing bracelet in Kellin's arm: the metal cuff one.
"Right before she died, she grabbed your arm, am I right?" Sol asked.
"She did." Kellin answered.
"You said that when she grabbed it, one of your bracelets glowed. That could mean that her Essence was transferred into one of your bracelets. In this case, the metal cuff one."
I was amazed. Kellin's a Vessel user. Most Vessel users don't know that they have one until they use the power inside their Vessels.
"I have a question." I said.
"What is it?" Sol asked.
"What exactly does Kellin's bracelets do? You said that Scola's Essence was transferred into it. Does that mean that he can steal Essences from other people and use it for his own?"
"Really . . . . ?" Kellin said under his breath.
"Good question, Raine. Although it may look like it, I don't think that that is the case here."
"What do you mean?"
"It's better if you see for yourselves."
"What?" Kellin asked.
Sol signaled Chase to stand up and approach them. He looked at Kellin.
"Chase here has the Essence, Esprit." he said.
"Credits to the one who named it." I said.
"Now, I won't bore you with details, seeing as it's basically telekinesis." Sol said.
"You're talking about it like it's a small thing, Mr. Sol." Chase said.
"It IS a small thing, Chase." I said, grinning.
"Shut up." Chase said.
Kellin isn't saying anything, but I can see him eyeing my hands. I guess he's curious about my Essence, too. He'll find out soon enough. Can't guarantee he's not hurt, though.
"Now, Chase. I want you to grab one of Kellin's bracelets."
"Oh kaaaaaay . . . . . I'll choose this one."
Chase grabbed one of his bracelets. Looks like it's made out of leather. I'm really astounded on how much bracelets he's wearing.
*Nine bracelets? Really?*
"Now, I want you to concentrate, Chase, and use your Essence on the bracelet you're holding." Sol said.
"What?! Isn't that a bit dangerous?" Chase asked.
"No, it is not. You very well know that most Essences can't damage a Vessel. And your Essence isn't exactly the dangerous type."
Chase groaned at that comment. I get Chase's worry, but telekinesis is not exactly something that can kill a person on sight, let alone put a dent on a Vessel.
"Oh, fine."
Chase closed her eyes, in an attempt to concentrate. Little by little, we saw Kellin's bracelet glow. This time, a bright white one.
"Holy shit." I whispered.
I can see Sol being amazed by it, too, although with the amount of power he has, I doubt he's THAT amazed. After some time, the glowing stopped, and Chase let go of his bracelet.
"How'd I do?" Chase asked.
"You did well." Sol said.
He snapped his fingers, and a grey cube surfaced out of our table.
*Seriously creepy there, Sol.*
"Now, Chase. I want you to move that block with your Essence."
"Okay. Simple enough."
Chase began to extend her arms in front of her, and started moving her fingers like she was casting a spell. The block slowly started to float. And I clapped my hands and applauded sarcastically.
"Good job, Chase. Now stop."
Chase put down his arms, and the block bounced on the table and fell onto my lap.
"Asshole." I joked.
Chase put out her tongue to mock me. I placed the block back on the table.
"Looks like he can't steal Essences, seeing as I'm still able to use mine." she said.
"Well, that's right. Now, Kellin. It's your turn now." Sol said.
"What do you mean "my turn"?" Kellin asked.
"If my suspicions are true, you could be able to use Chases's telekinesis power now."
"Really . . . . ? Amazing . . . " Kellin said.
"Do it like you did earlier. Try lifting that block from the table."
"Well, okay."
Kellin approached the table, then closed his eyes. He put his hands out near the block, and started concentrating hardly. His forehead is already sweating like crazy. We stared at him for quite a while, but nothing's happening to the block.
"Kellin, stop." Sol ordered him.
"Wha--" Kellin said, opening his eyes.
"I don't get it. Nothing's happening. Something must be wrong." Chase said.
Kellin looked at his hands. He definitely looked puzzled.
"Did I . . . . do something wrong?" he said.
"No, you did not. We may have simply misunderstood your Essence." Sol said.
I thought back to what I saw in that hologram shit in Kellin's palms. It was just one small screen. Whenever I see Scola's, it's always like a network of different screens-slash-holograms linked together.
*Wait . . . . That must be it.*
"Hey, Sol. What if he can't use the power to its fullest?" I asked Sol.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Like, what if he can only use a part of Chase's Essence, not the entirety of it? He just absorbed it, after all. It's bound to have some restrictions, I guess."
"Hm. I didn't think of that." Sol said.
I thought for a moment.
*What could he do . . . . . ?*
I looked at Kellin.
"Why don't you try something simpler? Like, try pushing it away or something." I said to him.
"I'll try. Hope it works this time." he said.
"We'll see, Kellin." Sol said.
Once again, Kellin closed his eyes. He put his hands out near the block. He let out a deep breath, and he lunged his palm on the area in front of the block. And behold, it was pushed back. But . . . . . .
"You asshole!" I shouted.
The block hit me square in the chest, making me fall back first on the ground. It. Fucking. Hurt.
