I recognized the building we pulled up to. “Oh. My. God. You work at Fashion Life Inc! It’s the most popular fashion company in the whole WORLD!!! Only the greatest fashion designers work here and literally everyone follows their fashion tips and buys their clothes. Models, actors, actresses, singers, EVERYONE who has ever been in the spotlight has at least been seen once wearing their clothes!!!” Realizing how much I rambled I stopped.
“Sorry”, I said with a grin “I’m just really into fashion.” “No, it’s fine I like listening to you be so excited about this”, he said as he pulled into the underground parking lot. Once we parked Matías turned to me with a serious look. “Listen”, he sighed “don’t try asking these guys for help. I’m sure you can’t imagine this, but most of them are creepy bastards.”
“No wonder you know them”, I laughed to myself quietly. I figured he didn’t hear but to my dismay apparently he did. “AAAAAA GGHHHHHHHH!!!!” I screamed. I was met with a series of shocks and every last one of them were painful as hell. The pain finally stopped and Matías bent down, his lips once again grazing mine. “Walk in here with that attitude and they will eat your ass; and guess what if it’ll teach you a lesson I’ll let them”. I closed my eyes to avoid looking at him.
“I’m sorry”, I said sheepishly. “I didn’t mean anything by it, it was just a bad joke. Please don’t be mad”, I begged. I hate when he gets angry with me. Not that I care what he thinks, but I hate being in pain. The happier he is, the better it is for me. His expression lightened and he leaned back. “I’m not mad with you, I just have a short temper. I’m sorry,” he said, though I don’t think he really is sorry.
It’s currently 8:30 a.m.
“I still have work to do so let’s go ahead and go in. Remember what I said.” Once we got out the car he wrapped his arm around my waist. We went inside and headed to an elevator with a view of the whole city. The building had 40 floors and we went up to the 34th. The doors opened up to an enormous office. There was a giant window that looked out over the whole city. White couches, a coffee table, and rug were surrounding a massive t.v that was on the wall to the right. The ceilings were high with a giant chandler in the center. There was even a mini bar with snacks and drinks! The only part of the room that screamed office was the grand desk and chair that had the newest computer on it and stacked papers. It sat at the very end of the room. “Wooooow, this is so cool!”, I said looking like a kid in a candy store. Besides fashion, I absolutely love interior designing. Matías simply laughed.
“Bathroom is over there”, he said pointing to a door on the right hand side. Matías walked to the far end of the room and sat at his desk. I simply stood still looking around. “Come here”, he said with a grin, patting his lap as if he was talking to a dog. I stared at him for a second before finally walking over to him.
“I’m not a dog”, I said sheepishly, my head hung low “and I don’t want to be treated like one”.
Instead of getting angry, he pulled me into his lap so I was sitting with both legs across him. He held onto me with one arm and began typing an email with the other.
The gesture was sudden and he didn’t address my statement which was odd. Besides that, if someone enters his office and sees me, won’t they recognize me as the teen who went missing? Once again, I began getting my hopes up.
“What if someone sees me, they’ll report you to the police right?” I asked.
“The only two ways to get up here are by the stairs”, he said pointing to a door next to the elevator “and the elevator”.
“The door to the stairs is locked from the inside and only I can open it. Few people have access to use that specific elevator with their fingerprint and everyone else coming to my office has to call me to open it for them.”
“Oh, ok”, I sighed. I really didn’t want to lose hope, but holding on to it is hard. The first time I woke up in Matías’s basement, I had high hopes of getting home but now I’m not even sure if the police are looking for me. Matías pressed me into his chest and in a way his touch was relaxing. I leaned into him. He smelled like mint and lavender. Maybe I’m developing Stockholm syndrome, but right now I don’t want to think about that. My eyes became heavier and my breath slowed down. Right as I was about to doze off, I heard the elevator door open.
